Jos is a respectable bloke, but his tug on jutkiewicz says it all for me really.. The game is passing him by Quickly quite sadly.. Agree with GG wholeheartedly about our defence!
If the team is set up to protect the CB's then there has been a monumental **** up not replacing them. As it stands, despite the most talented group of midfielders we have seen in god knows how many years, the CB's & forwards are dictating a system that nulifies their qualities. I, and probably 99% of us, could see JOS needed replaced 2 years ago.
Maybe it's easier to see from where we watch it, and not in the dugout. I don't get it either. Maybe it's because he's seen as a natural leader off the pitch and that earns his place on it, I don't know!
He is a good captain, but then, so is Catts, and Catts doesn't limit the team. Having just watched Leicester rattle 5 in it just makes our shortcomings yet more apparent. The quality we have in midfield means we should be creating for fun, and we ain't. If we are sitting deep due to the cumbersome nature at the back, we need to change the back, simple. Simple terms, draw every game and you'll probably go down. Win 33%, lose 33% draw 33% and you have a decent season.
I know it is early in the season but these are shocking results for us today! We gonna have to start picking up wins! We're 4th off bottom now arent we???
That game would've finished 3-1 if not for some horrendous refereeing though. I saw a game where the home side got everything from the ref - including 2 penalties which should've been free kicks against them - and saw little to worry about from them.
Seems everyone knows how to get it done! I'm not worried, but I will be soon! Marcus, regardless of the ins and outs, they scored 5. Ulloa looks a striker don't he.
Long term maybe I agree, but I'm pleased we played Burnley yesterday and not Liecester or the table could be looking a hell of a lot worse. Perhaps it is time to try Coates or Vergini in JOS's position as he is and has been a liability for a very long time, my worry is he is putting to much responsibility for pro active defending onto Browns shoulders and if it goes on much longer we could suffer a double whammy from which we might not recover. Early days I know but the results today have put pressure on us no doubt.
Its the European hangover, I have argued on here about the unfairness of our recent fixture lists, and the old chestnut of we all have to play everybody twice some time or another comes up, and while this is true, the timing of fixtures is very important results-wise. We have seen this with bells on this week.
Do we have arguably the best keeper in the Prem? Mannone outstanding again!! http://www.oulala.com/en/player-profile/vito-mannone/2022 stats v Burnley (AWESOME!) 4 times off line to win possession of the ball 3 crosses caught 2 saves while diving 2 defensive clearances 1 catch while standing 1 cleansheet 1 punch from high ball 1 catch of a loose ball 1 interception QUALITY KEEPER!
