    Ingram
    Coyle Burke greaves elder
    Smallwood Doc
    Crowley honeyman. Klp
    Wilks

doubt Ingram will be in but my pick is he should be.
Got to beat these. Shame as this woulda been a great away day. Went a few times when I was working down there years ago.

Burton are bottom. Saying that, so were Shrewsbury when we played them.

I would like to hope we at least win by more than 1 goal. Lincoln put 5 past them, Doncaster 3, and Portsmouth 4. We should be doing similar.

Though I now fully expect Typical City to kick in and we lose 2-1.

Anyways, 4-0 City. This is the way.

    As upbeat as usual quill!

What score others beat them has no bearing on us, just as the fact we best Portsmouth 4-0 doesn't mean everyone else now must do the same or it be seen as a poor result of they only beat them 1-0

I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win right now

Considering how close the season has been as a result of our inconsistency, goal difference will likely be important, and if these teams around us are smashing lower sides and improving their goal difference, we need to be doing the same and keeping that gap, especially considering how often we seem to be ****ing up opportunities to comfortably beat sides.

Although in Staffordshire, it's closer to Derby than it is to Stafford.

It's in the West Midlands, but shares its vernacular with the East Midlands.

It's served by East Midlands utilities and has a Derby post code.

It's in the West Midlands TV region.

The local train station is operated by East Midlands Trains, but none of their trains go there.

It was home to the first Bass brewery, which was set up on the proceeds of selling an ale haulage firm to Pickfords which grew to be one the Britain major haulage firms.

A machine gun factory at Branston on the outskirts of Burton on Trent became the home of Crosse and Blackwell and gave it’s name to Branston Pickle.

The Unilever factory in the town makes only 2 products: Marmite and Bovril.

Craftsmen, known as alabaster men, settled in the town in the early 1300s and specialised in the painting and carving of religious objects. To celebrate this, there there faces in stones around a tree at Middleway Park. They were made at a time before pre-fabricated materials, when everything was hand-crafted and every object was imbued with the personality of its maker. They are shown emerging from the ground, like the first heads of a "terracotta army", referring to Burton's half forgotten past.

We have the joint best goal difference in the league and 3pts is the main objective, yes goals galore would be great, but if we walk away with a 1-0 win it doesn't mean it's a **** result just because they are bottom. If Lincoln or Donny only beat Portsmouth 1-0, is it a **** result for then just because we "smashed" them 4-0 ?

This is exactly what I ment with my post yesterday, you might not want us to do badly, but the whole tone of your posts comes across as if your desperate to find something to moan whinge and be negative about, even before a ball has been kicked

I would take your 4-0 Every time, but it just won't happen

I didn't even say 1-0 would be a **** result, where did I say 1-0 would be ****? Don't put words in my mouth, please.

If we want to be going up, we need to be winning these games comfortably, like pretty much every single side that gets promoted every season.

So... referring to Typical City means I'm whinging? Typical City, the thing that 100% of City fans always refer to in scenarios like these? Are you being purposely obtuse?

In the post that you just quoted, where did I say that you said 1-0 would be a **** result? To quote you... "Don't put words in my mouth please"

If we want to go up, we need to win games, 1-0, 4-0, 2-1,4-3.... They are all 3pts. If we score more goals then everyone else it doesn't guarantee promotion ( it helps ) but if we get more points then anyone else then it guarantees promotion.

I'm not being obtuse at all, but you really do just look for things to moan and be negative about, you can pretty much guarantee what the tone and body of your posts will be about.... We are top of the league, top scorers in the league, 4th best defensive record and joint top best over all GD. Seriously what would it take to change your outlook and viewpoint on us and our season, bearing in mind the allams nor grant are leaving soon and we can't score every chance we create or win every game 4-0.

Exactly what I said yesterday to him, I enjoy the debate with him most the time... But his constant need to find something to moan and be negative about is really draining

Again, I'm not the only one who gets the same treatment, so why is this excuse not being aimed at others when they post identical stuff?

    He isn’t wrong, though.

What we lack is consistency and that’s what determines whether a team goes up or not. It’s no good panning Portsmouth if you’re then gonna lose to Shrewsbury and Swindon. We won’t win every game and we especially won’t win 4-0, but that doesn’t excuse crap performances. It’s not about “looking for things to moan about”, I’d love nothing more than for everything to be perfect, but when you see a bad performance it’s natural to want to discuss it, even with people who don’t agree. We are all of the things you said, but that’s not through playing our best football consistently, a bigger factor is just how crap the opposition have been.

As I have said, the way the season is currently going, GD will be crucial in deciding who will be going up, and the GDs of the teams at the top are very close right now and only take one result to completely swing. We have played, at this point, dozens of times, in games where we have drawn or walked away having missed several sitters. My point is that we shouldn't even be worrying about GD at all at this point because it should be well out of sight. But due to our inconsistency up front, we're putting ourselves in a trickier situation than we need to be.

People seem to forget so quickly that we were 7 points clear of second and 10 of third not long ago. And now we're in a spot where one result can put us in the playoffs. As a result, goal difference is going to be way more important than it should be.

We might have hammered Pompey, but we lost to Shrewsbury and Fleetwood. The consistency means we need to be avoiding defeat in ALL those, not just one.

Again, this point about 'needing' to moan... I don't want to moan. I want to be positive. But these issues bother me. If they don't bother you, that's fine, but they bother me, so don't get all upset when someone aims even the slightest bit criticism at the side. You're okay Howden, you actually try to build debate, it's other ones on your side who are the absolute knobends in this scenario who throw out the bullshit.

But we're not discussing a bad performance here, are we?We haven't even kicked a ball yet! This is mounting criticism and forecasts of 'typical city' losing 2-1? We are top of the table on merit, not default, sometimes we struggle to put together decent performances back to back so yes,we are a bit inconsistent!!!

How inconsistent are teams below us if we are above them?
