If I can have a utopia in which global tax is fair I don’t see why I can’t have effective committees too!

That'd be double utopia, or never-never land as it's otherwise known.

I've searched all the parks in all the cities and found no statues of committees.

The orientation of all people is “growth, autonomy, and freedom from control by external forces” (Schunk, 2016, p. 349).

I almost can't believe anyone would be so stupid to dream up such a thing, was it someone in the American government?

Did they think they could apply this only to Musk, Bezos and the likes? Almost everyone has a savings account (even if the interest is little more than 0%) stocks, pension, ISA, PEP unit trusts, they all have unrealised income.

Will bank robbers have to pay this tax on unrealised income for the banks they're yet to rob?

Attachment difficulties can be as debilitating as Autism or ADHD, but awareness is low. Probably because it can't be treated with medication.

Interesting, I just finished my paternity leave. My 2 year old is incredibly attached to me, to the point where if I'm leaving the house I have to tell her I'm going to work otherwise she kicks off. For some reason, I'm allowed to go to work. It's like being married twice.

I got ten days and still had to plan and resource lessons during it, which I found a little grinding seeing as the women wouldn't be expected to do a damn thing.

That's really poor, you'd think schools would know better too! Mind you, I only got given two weeks to attach to my adopted children, which feels ridiculous now that I know what I know.

Absolutely, the first year of life is crucial. Even adopting a 7 month old was too late to make a difference to attachment difficulties. The authorities didn't even mention any possibility of it presenting as an issue.

Strangely I see two of our Grandsons most mornings and the youngest would be upset sometimes when I went, unless I say I’m going to work in which case he’s fine and just waves
There must be something that we communicate verbally and/or non verbally about work that they pick up on really early.

Anyway got to go, don’t cry…I’m off to work

I know each of the mods has been watching this thread to make sure it was nipped in the bud if it became too fractious or political, as the potential was clearly there, but we've each been pleasantly surprised at how relatively civilised it has been.

I know there'll be some that object, but we've had a chat and feel that, as it's now shifted topic, it's probably an appropriate time for this thread to quit while it's ahead.

Thanks to all that have contributed to what has been an interesting conversation.
