Today’s game is certain to be a ‘landmark game’ in our season, which has become derailed last month after the euphoria of winning away at Wolves and culminating in the humiliation of a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Chris Hughton’s Seagulls. Pinto is still injured, so I expect to see an unchanged back 4 and Hoolahan has been fairly ineffective in recent weeks and maybe it’s time to give him a rest, with Pritchard and Naismith behind Jerome. I expect Thompson will replace the suspended Tettey and I’d quite like to see Canos and Jo Murphy starting. Even if we win today, our abject performances over the last few games has resulted in us losing top spot and only remaining in the top 6 as a result of the equally poor performances of teams around us. The feeling amongst many fans is that AN’s tenure should be terminated ASAP and only a comfortable victory and overall improvement in playing style/tactics will begin to sway fans back behind AN. I’m not convinced that a draw would appease most fans and should we lose, my only hope is that the Board use the International break to act and not allow things to degenerate in the way that they did with Hughton!!!! After a week of both AN and players sending out confusing messages following the insulting performance at Brighton, this game is probably the most significant in terms of which direction we are going to go in this league. I sincerely hope that whatever differences there are in the dressing room that they are now resolved.
I am at the point where I just don't care Obviously I would like to see a home win but I really could not care less what happens either way today. (maybe just a passing phase but maybe not)
TEAM: McGovern; Martin (c), Bennett, Klose, Olsson; Thompson; Brady, Dorrans, Hoolahan, Pritchard; Jerome. #ncfc Where are the changes?????
Thompson starts instead of Tettey Brady starts ahead of Murphy. But I not sure I'm really answering the point you were raising. I'm not convinced losing Tettey is a big deal, for me our midfield almost always holds a better shape when he doesn't play.
I was expecting a few more changes and agree re Tettey, as we've coped OK when he was injured, but Howson was playing then, but at least Jacob isn't starting!!!
Thompson coming in was the expected change, what with our complete lack of other central midfielders for this game. Otherwise, I'm not sure there's too many others really pushing hard for a starting berth. Perhaps Josh rather than Brady?
Will Brady turn up? Surprised to see McGovern still in the team and Bennett will need to have a better game today or I can see him sidelined for sometime. Any new players in January? We want some but will the Board agree with the fans?
What has Canos done wrong not to be in the squad? He always performs and is a positive in the matches he plays. He was not involved in the U23 victory at Goodison yesterday, so he is getting no game time either way.
Right, 1 - 0 up so now we've about 60 mins to go........... Seems we scored a lucky goal from Brady but I have a feeling this game has a long way to go and Leeds will score.
