Thoughts and prayers with Captain Tom and his family. He's being treated for pneumonia and has now tested positive with Covid 19.

Last Friday I made several trips through Clifton as part of my work. Clifton was busy with students selflessly moving in groups purchasing their essential goodies for their parties like there was no pandemic.

The previous Friday my 92 year old neighbour who was also ex services went into a care home due to his declining health. For nearly a year he had kept himself isolated following guidelines. Within a week of moving into care he became infected with Covid -19 and passed away.

What a contrast between two generations.

I have total sympathy and sorrow for all who are lost or are affected from this murderous evil virus but I cannot except all the younger generation of today is clouded with the attitudes of moronic individuals who disgrace their fellows of age with lowlife contemptible acts.

I know, have been involved and also have grandsons of this generation, they continue to either study, work , contribute, volunteer to help family, friends and society in general, I refuse to believe that all should be treated with dark regard when a huge majority are as steadfast and respectful of humanity as any of their forefathers or older generations.

I am of course biased, I admit it, I also thought Captain Tom was a great man, I honestly have a high regard for younger people, maybe I am getting old.

    I did not state all.

I work with young dedicated staff looking after the vulnerable.

Away from BS8 lower down the social scale in BS16 the police are almost nightly having to break up young gangs of cider and tokers, and that has been going on all year.

Life at the moment emphasises the best and worst.

I never thought you did, I can remember in my day get togethers by mods and rockers, indeed I rode wearing a parker and a fur hat on my scooter circling the centre with a hundred plus others, getting pissed in the cellar bars, watching groups as we called them in the corn exchange, getting slung down the stairs of the top rank for challenging the bouncers, dancing on the tables of Hoffenbrou too pissed to stand and staggering to get the last bus home or we had to walk because we couldn't afford a pound for the taxi to Lawrence Weston, my home which was slightly down on the social scale.

We have all been there and to be honest I had some great times, I'd do it all again, given the chance.
