    What do you lot think?

Personally I would love it if we signed him. He offers us what Crouch does but he's just better at it in every way, i.e. he can kick a ball better than a 8 year old girl. £23 million in my opinion is abit too much but as its the January transfer window, and he's English and because Villa ****ed everything up by paying a potential £24 million for Bent, it's likely that it'll be more.

What is everyone elses thoughts, forget the fee and focus on the player, will he make us better?

He looks the part LDS but Pardew is determined to keep him and might well walk if NUFC sold him. It would be a big surprise if we signed him.

I mentioned on an article on 606 about a month ago saying i would love him to sign for us because working with Ferdinand and Allen would do wonders for his game let alone playing in a team with VDV, Bale, Lennon and Modric creating chances for him to feed off. I agree we more than likely won't sign him but I see it mainly coming from him not wanting to leave just yet, unless they accept a bid I can't see him pushing Newcastle to let him leave like Torres is doing now<ok>

They are testing Newcastle to see if Carroll puts in a transfer like Torres, that won't happen.

Carroll wouldn't get in the starting XI of those 4 clubs, and of course Arsenal and City aren't exactly laden with trophies

As a player, he has a lot of atributes that we need in our team now. As a person he's a bit of plank and I think that might get worse if he comes to London on a big salary with a big ego.

Annoyed we didn't get him to be honest but as he cost £35 million i'll get over it easily, he's good but not worth that

Agreed, he's the sort of player we need but not for £35m.
