On balance, given that Charlton rarely looked like getting a shot, Norwich probably deserved that without being very good. The confidence did seem to get a boost after the goal but it remained mostly grim veiwing
Hugely frustrating game, but best possible result - a win in normal time and some unfit players get a run out. Other positives include Rashica getting his goal and Hanley reasonably authoritative. I thought we looked better once Aarons came on - had more width and more of an attacking look, but that could just have been an energetic Charlton tiring. We looked really ordinary with our slightly under strength starting XI.
We're all relieved, but let's face it - that was woeful. Considering the level of the opposition, that was possibly our worst performance so far this season (and there's a lot of competition for that accolade). Typical quick, precise thinking from Pukki won it for us. Rashica looked lively once he came on. Sorensen was OK. Other than that, hard to see any positives, especially from the midfield who really looked no more creative than a L1 midfield.
I generally like Charlton but today they were crazy animals. Idiotic fouls all the time. When their appeals for a free kick were ignored you could bet that a player would race after our player on the ball and foul him. Was expecting a red for one of them.
Banana skin avoided and although not a great performance, hopefully a boost for the players with the result
I only watched the last half hour and was just happy to see Rashica out there and running with the ball, we have missed him and glad to see him break his duck finally
From what I saw it looked like we were playing a pre season friendly with players just trying to build fitness, perhaps holding back a bit with the midweek game in mind.
Arguably the man of the match having only played half the game. His workrate and running worried their defenders as did Pukki's threat and it was the two of them who won the game eventually. The first half lineup was makeshift and it looked like that. Pukki and Rashica made us far more positive and suddenly we were making intelligent runs that changed the game. Sørensen looked good at DM and PLM improved as the game went on but a disappointing performance from McLean. Williams and Byram also did well and Krul looked sharp in goal.
No, but think you might have been a bit harsh on Rashica. He has looked very good whenever I have seen him. Correct re Sargent and Tzolis though. £20m we could have spent much better. Considering Watford got Dennis for about £3m!!
Tzolis has really disappointed me so far. He was totally anonymous today. The performance against Bournemouth suggested there is a very talented player somewhere in there, but God knows where it has gone. As for Sargent, he is like the Porter in Macbeth - there for comic relief in our tragedy of a season.
Lees-Melou,Rashica,Tzolis & Sargent were brought in to fill the Buendia shape hole in the Premier League . Total of ZERO goals between them and don't think any assists either . Rashica looks the best out of them but I would rather we bought a proper striker.
