Goodbye pandemic doom and gloom. The first day of Spring is this Saturday, 20th March. Here comes the Cheltenham Festival to kick things off today... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/r...k-sound-unfamiliar-action-thrilling-ever.html
Ultima Handicap Tuesday 16th March - 2:30pm Vintage Clouds 20/1 - 0.75pts EW with Boylesports (5 places). Also 20/1 with 365 but only 4 places. A classy horse who has run in this race four times, with a record of 823F (fell when in contention). Clearly this horse is aimed at a race like this, with his proven staying credentials. He is back down to his last winning mark (143) and although his recent form isn't spectacular (357 in his last three runs this season), this is similar to recent years. He had wind surgery before his last run which for me is a good sign as he also had this before coming second in this race two years ago. At 20/1, this selection will give us a good run for our money and I would expect place money as a minimum. Minimum Price: 16/1
Think you can still get 40s on this Supreme Novice Hurdle Tuesday 16th March - 1:50pm For Pleasure - BET365 NR No Bet 66/1 - 0.5pts E/W (3 places paid) Appreciate It could be the class act in the field this year for the Mullins yard. The odds suggest that - Best Priced 13/8 currently. He brings 2 Irish Grade 2 wins to the table and a top RPR rating of 162 but we expect different conditions on the day and the times of those wins are not exactly anything to write home about. The selection does not ‘Hale’ from a top training yard and Alex Hales will be looking to add his first ever Cheltenham Festival Supreme Novice Hurdle winner to his portfolio. The simple facts are that For Pleasure ticks MANY of the boxes that we want as a big player in this race. C&D winner Front runner Grade 2 winner (Supreme Trial) 3rd on Official Ratings 4th on RPR ratings Having seen many a horse with this profile win and place in this race, we feel the price is completely wrong with bet 365 and expect this to shorten up as other horses are declared elsewhere at the festival. Although better place terms may be available on the day, you wont be seeing the 66/1 quoted anywhere.

**** Cheltenham races. I wonder how many horses deaths there will be there this year? An utterly ridiculous decision to allow it to go ahead last year. Beggared belief. http://horsedeathwatch.com/index.php (and these are of course just the tip of the iceberg)
Have you any concept of how much horse racing brings into the national economy, how many people are employed in it..?... then, under the current climate the mental benefits of having it available to watch. Had spectators been allowed over the 4 days there would have been 250k people in attendance spending huge amounts of money on hotels, food, drinks and generally having fun. Its been said before horses live in luxury and YES every death is awful and felt by anyone with any sense of decency and even more by the racing community, but based on every race, the number of runners and each hurdle or fence jumped it's minimal. Every course does everything minimise any risk. Back to today, I agree For Pleasure might get loose on the lead and they may give it too much rope... Bet of the week.. COUNTY HURDLE FRIDAY.... BUILDMEUPBUTTERCUP.25/1
Not into horseracing myself but have no problem with it. Probably brings in loads of tax for the government.
Have you thought about setting up a 'Reclaim our stud farms' Group? A candlelit vigil in Malton might be an idea.Nip up to the gallops one Sunday morning and tell them what you think!!
It has been on for 12 minutes and I'm already Pissed Off with the Paddy-Power ads. As soon as the George Floyd trial jury selection comes on I'll watch that instead.
The 3 o'clock League One 46 Furlong Handicap Stakes. Games in Hand, 50-1, rank outsider. Points on the Board, 2-1 on, hot favourite. Knicker Wetters, evens, start well then often fades away. Never Going Again, 33-1, unseats rider regularly, but when near success the jockey jumps back on. Negative Bastards, 7-1, good stamina and there to the post. Allam Out, 150-1, the once a year and housewives favourite.
