Right, have become a bit slack of late so thread bumped. Any excuse to not run etc., be it pissing down or too hot. Looks like I've got the next phase of where I'm working signed up so can join a gym, nearest one is a JD Gym (used to be Xercise 4 less), anyone know if they're any good? Looks a bit **** and soulless but what do you need I suppose? Will only be able to go twice a week, so need good suggestions to hit it hard for those two days. Need to get back on it. No suggestions of plyometrics in the back garden please because I ain't doing it. @PINKIE is also a fat **** now so needs all our help.
£20 a a month not tied into a contract sounds alright for two times a week use. Only problem is it's Newport!
If its two days only its full body workouts I'd say, but you need to make it 3 ideally. You need to commit to a proper programme and stick to it. have you got one? I can give you one maybe if not. What are your aims? Build muscle? Lose fat and maintain muscle? Recomposition? Or are you just trying to get fit? You don't have to post here but what's your current weight body fat %?
Amazing how just a couple of weeks of no (or little) exercise combined with eating a dish from just about every corner of the world can turn you back into a fkin slob. I'm having to ease myself back into my exercise gently coz I'm still a bit ****ed up from that neck injury. Been for a couple of very tentative surfs, but to be honest it hurts and I don't want to **** myself long term. Gonna go for a bike ride today, maybe just 5 miles or so over flat(ish) ground. No rocks or drops or any **** like that. And sadly my relationship with the Jamaican Rum cakes will have to be severed.
I’ll not write a plan out in case it offends Comm, but if you’re only going twice I’d group back with legs as many of the exercises are done in the rack and combine both muscle groups (Cleans, Dead’s, Squats, Rack Pulls etc). Don’t waste your time with isolation leg exercises or ****ty exercises like reverse flies for back. **** the barbell off for chest 2nd day and get in as many variations of db press as you can. Isolation stuff and shoulders I’d try to work into the end of the workout or between sets.
Not done much for about 4 weeks before he little one was born. Can’t really get out on the bike after work as much as need to spend time with family. Last summer on lockdown was a motivation to use turbo trainer/get out when possible. weekends are now family time so need to get into turbo trainer mode and look at a rowing machine for a another workout.
Thanks @Tel and @Roy Munson Does have to be two days only as those are the nights I stay away for work, when I'm home I've got all sorts of cricket/football/rugby training **** on, and weekends best I can hope for is getting out for a run if I've committed the crime of playing golf. Mainly, it's getting back to where I was strength wise, with the obvious benefits of fitness and weight loss that goes with that. Got a reasonable idea of what to get one with based on answers. I do love a bench press mind, will have to keep on with doing that. Need to sort my eating out as well, get the slow cooker going so I'm not nipping into KFC when I'm away for an evening, or pub meals with couple of pints.
If you like bench then obviously stick to it, but the risk of injury far outweighs its benefits for a casual trainer vs dumbbell press. When the gyms reopened I was at the rack every day, legs, legs, legs. Overtraining is a load of bollocks unless you’re elite, and it’s the fastest way to gains in strength, grip and size.
I'd think that bench (bar or dumbell) squats and deadlifts would be something I'd do both days. Wish it could be three days, and if I get overworked at work and can't hack the travel it will, but a plan for two days will have to do for the time being. Anyway, the ****s have come back to us after the auction and want best part of 1/4 mill discounted. I'd get it back in VO and EoT's but still, ****ers. Not yet signed.
Steel yes, big ****ing issue. It's a massive steel framed building. InBev (it's even more brewery extension) insist on these metal deck roofs worldwide. Can't get the metal deck sheeting anywhere, so will have to propose alternatives. Concrete is fine. Cladding proving difficult as well but that's next year so can get on order early.
