Broke his femur? ****, that's a really bad one. It's the strongest bone in the body, so it's the hardest to break.
It sounds a pretty bad accident, these time trial bikes are much more susceptible to crosswinds than road bikes. Could well be out for a while. t least that gives "G" a clear run at the Tour, ("G" is no reference to that twat on RH before anyone mentions it)
A couple if guys I know have got these really light road bikes ! They often do 60 miles plus and say when you hit a bit of crosswind it's often hard to stay on the bike !
It’s to do with the aero wheels. They are either fully enclosed or have high side walls that can really catch the wind.
The filled in back wheel is like a windbreak, and very hard to control when you hit crosswinds. Apparently, he was riding with no hands on the bars whilst he blew his nose.
Cavendish had a long illness and has never really got back to his best level he might ride the Tour de France this year but I can't see him winning any stages. As for Froome it sounds pretty serious, hope he is OK
All sounds a bit grim... “He signalled to (team-mate) Wout (Poels) that he was going to clear his nose, he took his hand off the bar to do that and a gust of wind took his front wheel, he lost control and went straight into the wall of a house. “We have had a look at his data, he went from 54kmh to a dead stop.” He's now in intensive care, after undergoing eight hours of surgery.
