Talk sport reckon he’s set to leave his role, don’t get me wrong I like the bloke, but I don’t understand his transfer strategy, he said something like they try and get the best players from the championship and making it out as if it’s all they can afford, look at the fees they’ve paid surely they could’ve signed much better quality with the money they have spent?
Signings like that, 20m on Ollie Mcburnie, surely with that sort of money that could get better? This is from the outside looking in like but from that perspective it’s a bit baffling
He is a good manager. Odd what has happened this season. Remember during the first 8 games or so everyone saying they would turn it round but once you get on a downward cycle it takes some reversal, particularly in that league. I would have put money on him to take them back up next year mind.
100% is mate, I like the bloke, not sure on the transfer strategy whether that’s him or not I don’t know mind
Signings were shocking mind. Ramsdale a smashing keeper but they only got him as no other PL club was looking, Berge is very good, but the Brewster and McBurnie fees were criminal. Doesn’t take away from the ludicrously good job he did to get them there. I like Jack O’Connoll, wonder if we could pinch him if we go up.
Not really. Average championship striker will set you back easily 15m nowadays. There’s undoubtedly better value to be had than wilder got, but £20m is nothing now! Which makes our record signing look a pittance
Not the first time we have seen 'Second Season Syndrome' working out. I think he got a bit lucky last season in getting Henderson from MU in goal. But he also did a great job for them. Typicaly of Fans and Directors, all that is now forgotten.
It could if he was prepared to look outside of his comfort zone ... ... but it's reserves and lower league English players only.
Rodwell apparently slipped at home and hurt himself earlier this season, hasn't played since. Wilder said in an interview recently that it was difficult to get him back to match fit as he's unable to play U23 or behind closed doors games. What on Earth is going on with him.
Never thought they’d get rid of him he’s Sheffield through and through and should have been given e chance to get them back up I think they owed him that much
I think the timing of it all is odd, unless there has been some sort of fall out behind the scenes It's been obvious since about October that Sheff Utd were going down so to get rid now is a bit weird - the new manager will have no chance of keeping them up. Bit like when MMc took over from Wilko in 2003 Just goes to show how little patience there is in football these days - double promotion and a top 6 finish counts for nothing when you are bottom of the league Imagine if we had sacked Reid in 1997 when we got relegated?
I'd guess he's argued with the squad, staff, owners and the tea lady. He's probably pushed things, to be paid off, and doesn't fancy repeating the procedure of getting them back up. I'm sick of his sour face so quite pleased.
Seems like there may have been a disagreement with the owner 'Wilder to leave Sheffield United' http://www.skysports.com/share/12179560
The signings made were not value for money , perhaps their recruitment team was on par with our Coton and Hill combo . On the face of it they have some half decent players but unfortunately a lot of them are the same type and needed something different . I reckon they could do a Norwich and bounce straight back up with a small number of astute signings as for his looks Smug compared to Steve Bruce he reminds me of Burt Reynolds .
