I agree :( The FA will compare it to the Kompany challenge against United.

We're leaking goals enough as it is, without our best bloody defender suspended. Not a good time for our first red in 37 league games!! Woody and Ryan haven't looked great together apart from 1 or 2 games at the start of the season.

I didn't READ the first link I assume? that's the one where SCFC are appealing the red card.

I did READ the 2nd link and Woodgate should have just kept his mouth shut, just my own oppinion of course. FEEL free to bite my head off.
Woodgate should NOT be anywhere near our FIRST team IMHO.
    1. He is NOT fit physically.
    2. why I and thousands more were brassed off on Saturday when HE came on for Pennant.
    3. PULIS brought Woodgate and he knew he wasn't FIT. He's got issues with PENNANT i.e. DOES not give the lad a GAME often enough.
    4. So WHY bring Pennant OFF for another defender on Saturday? why not Walter's, Crouch, Delap but NO he has to kick Pennant down again
and bring him off. Fine he wasn't playing at his best but neither were half a dozen other's.??

    5. I get BRASSED off when we're called thugs, dirty, anything and anything.. re first red in HOW many games...
    6. For those blinkered enough NOT to admit that Huth is the ONE guy who is usually climbing all over an oppising player , at both ends of the pitch. GET your'e eyes tested. He is our worst player for that e.g. shirt pulling, holding, pushing.. yep it goes on with all teams and Huth is one of the worst I have seen doing this. I cringe sometimes.
    7. I will NEVER understand, given the conditions as to WHY Huth slid like that..
    8. READ through 1. to 7 and then ask yourself this..

Should Tony Pulis be able to see that Pennant is along with Ether's OUR best winger at S.C.F.C. If so, why does he NOT play him? PULIS bought Woodgate? Pulis could have waited on Saturday a few sec's BEFRORE half time and had a re-think? He didn't why was this? I refer to Huth's red card hence, we're down to TEN MEN.
WHY does'nt Tony Pulis TELL HUTH to Stop pulling other player's, If I can see it, surely he can? if not why not?
As pointed out by a Sunderland fan since the weekend.. WHY didn't Pulis tell our player's.. It's snowing lads, go easy and don't do anything that might tempt a ref who can be card happy a CHANCE to send you off?

I don't want this to start another name calling Stoke v Sunderland fans AGAIN so.. PLEASE READ what I have actually SAID/WRITTEN before throwing the idiot, Pulis hating remark at me. I don't like his tactic's, I NEVER have. He HAS done really well until last season, the start of. NOW? He's called a footballer a cheat? Or words to that effect. Huth, I've not seen any proof of this has reportedly said he's sorry to David Meyler <ok>

I HATE it when we the "fans" have to read obscene IMHO comments about Tony Pulis, our player's.. our CLUB and us the fans. I will NOT defend Tony Pulis any longer, I WILL defend our player's who, in general are an "honest bunch" and give of their best, even if it's CRAP they are not to blame. PULIS picks the team, YOU, ME we ONLY support them.

I will do that because, I always have. Sick of hearing how stupid Pulis is, sick of the ignorant fans who call us anything and everything. PULIS is slowly but surly killing my passion for Stoke City.

So yep, I am wound up.... give me too the end of this season fellow Stoke fans. YOU are the best, we all get along. We are nonest with our oppinions be they right or wrong. We do respect each other's views. PLEASE look for another board Moderator as and from the end of this season. I've loved every minute of debate on here.
This season? Too many of the regular posters are gone, those of you who are left I thank you all for you support the last few seasons.. YOU are the BEST fans I know.

Sorry for the long drawn out post.. I will of course always love and support Stoke City because I always have. Take care guys and thanks to all the decent opposing fans whom I have spoken too. I HOPE you win every game you play. Apart from when you play us.

It's obviously not been confirmed but there were rumours after the Everton game, that he was left out for that game for leaving the team hotel the previous night, to go and see some tart, and they fell out as a result, hence Pulis mysteriously not starting Pennant for a while.

As I said it's all rumour but it would certainly explain it.

It's not just Huth who pulls shirts in the box. Shawcross is also a major culprit. But in their defence, it goes on in every box in every game, so I wouldn't single either of them out as being worse than others. Huth was stupid to make the tackle, but realised immediately what a tool he had been and attempted to pull out as best as he could. A yellow should have been the most he received. The players are familiar enough with the refs to know what is acceptable to one and not to another without Pulis having to spell it out for them, so I don't blame him for Huth's stupidity.

I told my son that as soon as Huth was sent off and we saw Woodgate ready to come on that it wold be Pennant coming off. It had to be him because he was having an absolute mare, far worse than any other player. What annoyed me more though was the fact that he didn't start with Palacios or even have him on the bench. I haven't heard that he was injured or unavailable for any other reason, so I must assume that Pulis doesn't think the Honduran international is able to play in the wind or in the cold. What was the point in signing him cos its always cold at the Brit and even on a 'balmy' summer's day there always seems to be a bit of a gale blowing through the stadium? In conditions such as those on saturday and also the game against the Baggies, it doesn't take much intellect to realise that when the conditions are tricky, someone who is comfortable on the ball, has a good touch and can pass to feet along the floor is the right man for the job.

I also heard the Pennant rumour, probably on here, but even if they had a fall out, Pulis is now, by continuing to hold a grudge, weakening our team. That is inexcusable. He must think he is bigger than the club which he certainly is not.

Pulis is starting to p1ss me off something rotten at the moment. I don't look forward to going the games as much as I used to cos I know we're not going to play anything like decent football and he's not going to pick a team that most fans would choose. Last season I was positive before nearly every home game that we would get a result, but this season I go to the game thinking I'd be happy if we managed to avoid defeat.

I'm going to continue supporting the team because that what a fan does. I wont shout negative comments during the game at Pulis or the players because that serves no purpose. But I wish there was something that could be done to make Pulis realise that things aren't going well and that the fans and their views are important. I don't want Pulis to go - yet - because I fear what would happen if he went, but someone who he respects (if there is anyone) needs to sit down with him and give him a bloody good talking to. He's supposed to be one of the most qualified coaches in the country, so its about time he started showing that there is more to his game than sitting back and hoofing it up to the big lad at the other end of the pitch.

Point taken Sgt and Smit re Pennant ... but
Just because the lad did that.. WHY has he not started games? Same happend with Beattie, Kitson I think? complained lack of games etc.. as for Tuncay don't even get me started... T.P. should THINK before saying or doing anything IMHO.

I really don't care if Pennat was getting it off elsewhere, I CARE what happens when he's on the pitch.. which isn't very often recently. THAT is doing the team, the club our chances to win pts NO good at all. It is also hacking me off big time. I CARE about the club and how best we can win games.

WITH Pennant or WITHOUT him.. your'e choice. or Tony's we don't keep leaving him OUT of the TEAM HE does.

It must be TP's ego and stubborn side. Cross him and your card permanently marked whether it is in the interests of the team or not.

It's wrong and PC must have spoken to TP about it surely? PC doesn't strike me as being frightened of Pulis or naive enough to believe everything he says so I have no idea why he's letting things like this happen. Coates must be able to see that we are a better team when both Pennant and Etherington play at the same time so he needs to have a quiet word and let Pulis know who's the boss.

THAT my friend is the 65,000 dollar question.. P.C. and T.P. Seem's whenever Tony is interviewed our Chairman is the best next thing to God almighty.
Which of course in my eye's HE Mr Coates is. HE SAVED OUR CLUB thanks for the Mr Coates. Did he not also appoint Tony Pulis..

Seem's to me that they are too Pally or are they Smit.. even before Saturday's game I've wondered how much the mutual appreciation thing T.P. keeps spouting is actually true. It's HIS money and I thank him for allowing the CLUB to be able to buy player's..

Back to sqare one then.. pick our best team and I'm sure we will do OK. Don't do that and keep changing the team/tactic's/ system/whatever TONY calls it so OFTEN.

Walters is knackered? keeps playing him. Etherington hardly ever fit for two games running ? Palacios ??? I could go on but hey, it's easier to just bang one's head against a brick wall. Which is WHY i said above Smit and Sgt. ME? I've had enough, seen enough, heard enough, read too much CRAP and probably write too MUCH CRAP at times. In short... Sod IT... Sorry to nick your'e quote Nickyb.

You know I know you are right,Nicky, Waddo, Sgt, Smither's the rest of you.. TOP LADS and great posters. one and all.

I thought Woodgate for Pennant was a perfectly acceptable decision. We were never going to play with 3 at the back with no Huth. Maybe if Wilko got sent off it may be been viable. Pennant was having an awful game anyway, I thought he was probably going to get subbed early in the second half anyway, but he was the obvious choice to come off, no point taking off a striker, we have enough trouble getting a goal with 2 of them, never going to take a CM off, would create a massive hole in the middle. The sub meant we could switch between 4-3-2 or 4-4-1.

Totally agree about Palacios though, how many more games is he going to miss and why? Too rainy, humid, or dry for him? It's ****ing ridiculous.

I think Woodgate is being given a hard time, he has had good games, and his fitness hasn't let him down too much, it's just that RB position.

And wingers, fair enough, last 2 games Matty has been injured and not playing, but in the weeks before that, I can't understand not going for it with both of them playing. Not sure if it's the Pulis tactics, or if he's worried about injuries, given we've got no real cover for either.

As most of you know, I'm usually in support of Pulis (I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I get where he's coming from most of the time), but it's getting frustrating now. I think the "negative tactics" a lot of you have been complaining about have suited us quite well over the past few years, but now the team is evolving, but the tactics are not, and it's just not working out too well. But most of all, I'm getting pissed off with his interviews, there is no need for him to come out moaning about penalties, or accusing players of cheating. For an "old school" manager who likes to do his business in private, he's doing a hell of a lot of public whinging.

For me the problem with Pulis is:

In our first season up, he never complained about any bad/wrong decisions that happened in any of our games. He just smiled & said nothing, because we are glad to be in the Prem.

Now as the seasons have progressed, he has actually got worse, constant moaning now on a level that is even surpassing SAF & Wenger.

Tony just ****ing manage the side & get the ****ing players actually playing as a team that we know we are capable of playing.

Stoke City lose appeal over defender Robert Huth's red card

Stoke City have lost their appeal to the Football Association over Robert Huth's red card against Sunderland.
The defender will serve a three-match ban for his instant dismissal for a tackle on Sunderland's David Meyler in Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat.
Stoke used photographic and video evidence to try and acquit Huth after boss Tony Pulis claimed there was "no intent" in the German's challenge.
"Robert slides in but actually doesn't touch the player" Stoke City manager Tony Pulis
But an independent regulatory commission has rejected the appeal.
It did not decide to extend Huth's punishment by another game, which it could have done if the appeal was deemed to be frivolous.
The 27-year-old will miss Premier League matches against Fulham and Swansea, as well as the FA Cup fifth-round tie at League Two side Crawley Town.
Huth's tackle came just before half-time with the game poised at 0-0, but Sunderland took full advantage against Stoke's 10 men, securing victory through James McClean's 60th-minute strike.
Pulis was enraged by referee Martin Atkinson's decision, in the hard, wintry conditions, accusing Irish midfielder Meyler of play-acting.
"Robert slides in but actually doesn't touch the player," Pulis argued.
"I think it's a disease that's coming into the game where players roll around and they're looking to see if they can get people booked or sent off.
"Then you get situations when players are falling around and rolling around when they have not even been touched.
"Really and truthfully the player is trying to get the player sent off."

Oh well. Can't say I'm surprised. Not because he deserved it, I'm still undecided on that, but because we're Stoke and not one of the "big" teams! (I'll put my tin hat on!!)

Something I missed off my earlier post, I think it was Potts mentioned Tuncay as a complaint about Pulis, and I've got to say, I was pissed off that Tunny never seemed to get a chance, but he only played a couple of games for Wolfsburg, and not a great many for Bolton, not sure how many, but I never hear his name on MOTD or anything. So in all, I don't think TP was too much to blame in the whole "Tuncay saga"

Yep it was me and your'e oppinion is fine by me <ok> I do remember that goal v Utd last season though, his magical feet.. whatever happened between Tony and Tuncay I don't know. The guy had talent, as did Beattie and of course again as with Griffin that spat with Fuller. Pulis it seem's is like an elephant. He will not forget and forgive for the sake of Stoke City. I think he should have sometimes done that as with Pennant..

Of course others might think, differently. That's fine by me. As Mighty Huth say's.. If we agreed all of the time.. this site would not be worth the effort.

Was a cracking goal against Utd, but all in all, I don't think Tuncay did a great deal for the team. He ran around like mad, which made the fans like him (which is why I'm not completely sold on Jerome yet, he could prove to be the same), and had the odd bit of immense play every now and then, but I think people were forgetting all the terrible touches and the times how he was brushed off the ball so easily. As with Beattie, Kitson and Lawrence too, all had disputes with TP which helped them on their way out, but none have been of them all that good since moving, I don't even know where Beattie has ended up now, Kitson scored about 10 goals since going to Pompey (2 years ago), I know Lawrence had a good start after moving, but hasn't since been great. My point being, I think all of the above would have been on their way, had it not been for falling out with Pulis.

As for Pennant, I think he has got a whole lot to offer us still, and so doesn't deserve the same treatment, and I'd be surprised if he got it. Knowing how stubborn Pulis is, I think he would have got rid to the first team that offered in the January transfers if he had a problem with him.

    Well
I guess it's time we all forget what's happened, move forward and hope that we can get something at Fulham this weekend.
Main thing I was trying to get across was something Smither's said.. above.

Tony HAS to think about HOW best to get the best from all the player's he has. Meaning results and staying up. It's no use complaining re about the Crawley game, and the Europa games on Thursday's etc etc..

We all want to be involved, Pulis keeps bragging about it.. and HE should do. But PLEASE Tony do NOT whinge or complain because we've now been told to K/O v Crawley at noon on the Sunday? That we have to travel here there and everywhere? JUST please get on with it. Our squad isn't ideally suited for so many games for a few reasons. Injury, no full backs or not enough full backs. HE knew that and didn't do anything about it... but that's going off topic so I'll leave it at that.
