I know exactly how you feel RS but I'm with CF below, bar the fact that he feels nothing at all. I do undoubtedly feel something but it's more that it's a shame that Clyne can't wait one little contract extension at least to make possible football history or he could just be another Champions League player next season. He's probably seeing no further than his wallet. The oft published lie of wanting to win trophies and play CL football is a mask for just being paid a lot of money. If it were the money or the trophies there would be an awful lot of top players who wouldn't bother with the trophies, I'm quite sure. Logical and clear. Can't really argue with it.
If the conveyor belt to a bigger club happens in quick succession I will be surer than I've ever been that tapping-up has occurred again.
When I said I feel nothing, it's because I realise this is all about money and nothing else. I felt very differently regarding last summers wantaways. I wondered how many of the players which I was applauding during the last match lap would be seen in a Saints shirt again. Rickie leaving taught me to make no assumptions. Football is a business. Not to me, but to the players.
Just thought... is it worth looking at Matteo Darmian to replace Nat Clyne..? Would give Pelle someone to speak the old country's lingo. Plays for Torino and would probably believe playing for Saints would be a step-up.
If the big clubs want to cripple themselves each summer by paying big money for every single transfer, then let them. For every 27 million quid Luke Shaw, there is a 3.5 million quid Aaron Cresswell. I almost guarantee that this time next season there will be a couple of full-backs in the Prem that were bought (or promoted) from the Championship, who will be regarded as two of the best in the league. It's almost a given. So let's be the smart club who buys them.
if Hernandez was going to be part of the deal I highly doubt we will get money as part of the deal as well id take the swap any day
If prowse goes it will be a real shock. And a bad move for him. He will spend a long time in u21's before even making the bench at a 'top' club.
Karl Jenkinson as part of the Snidders deal as he has had a good season with West Ham and I am sure he can pass along the ground, honest
Better at cb tho. I think we are doing what we did with Chambers. Making him learn his trade as a rb behind moving him to cb.
I usually lurk rather than post but I'm reading some negativity here and felt the need to give my 2 cents on it. Clyne came here instead of moving to a 'big team' so that he could actually play football and develop, all I've seen since then is a hard working professional that keeps his head down and gets on with things. Of course he wants to play CL, who wouldn't? Yes we may be disappointed with him moving on now instead of a years time when his contract ends, but a year left gives us much better bargaining power I reckon. I'm sure whatever happens is already decided, but if (when) Clyne does leave at the end of this season I'll still wish him well and appreciate what he did for us.
