Thank god i didnt make any foolish predictions . In fairness, no one could have predicted how well he would do. He was good anyway, but also improved tremendously from his time training at Liverpool, despite the injuries. This season he really is a complete striker, and a total of legend of a bloke to boot. Easily my fav player since SRL.
It also feels like this signing has resolved a few issues between our clubs. We sold them the key ingredients to win the title, but eventually received a little gem back as a thank you. I do believe I'm moving on now.
Absolutely; I didn't like Ings' odds of getting back to full health after having three major knee ligament injuries. Not many players do. I'm very glad that to have been wrong, though.
It's highly likely that we'd be down without Ings, so you could say that Liverpool selling him to us meant we kept our place in the Premier League (and millions of £ in money). I still don't want them to win the league next season, though.
What a player. King of the Scummers indeed. Not many achieve legend status in such a short space of time.
He was very unlucky with what happened there. One of the most mentality challenging transfer moves I've ever heard of. Just shows a lot about his character.
He was a legend as soon as the ball hit the net in front of the Fratton End and confirmed it with my avatar...
Yep, i'm over The Scousers now, they have won the league and are liable to dominate if Klopp stays and at least we can take a measure of reflected glory in their success.
I thought signing Ings was a big mistake given his injury record, and £20m seemed like far too much. Delighted to be proven wrong!
I don’t know what I said, and can’t be bothered to hunt for it, but I will say that his ability with the ball and his ability to pick out a pass is something I had never even considered him to have. Not having seen much of him, previous to him signing for us, I think I was expecting a younger version of Charlie Austin. And as I said yesterday, his ability to drop deep and pick out passes for runners, reminds me of Lambert, and I cannot give him a greater compliment than that.
I prefer the additional payments to the glory, £2.5 million according to the Telegraph. Other sources say £10 million triggered by the champions league win.
