I think in reality we all know he isnt that good and likely never will be a regular starter for us. But the fact he is an academy lad means we have to pull the wool over our own eyes. Get with the programme mate!
Quite like the Ings signing all things considered. Makes the window fair to middling rather than a disaster. One or two short of a strong window.
I didn’t see any of the Borussia Moenchengladbach game but everyone who posted on here about it confirmed that our play improved when JWP came on. That’s what he does, he gets other people to play better.
He runs around a lot, will run channels and put 100% effort in all game. Most of his goals will be a from inside the box, more of a predator in that aspect rather than beating players or shooting from range b
Lucas Perez had a longer contract to run on a higher salary. By all accounts, Arsenal weren't exactly in a position to spark up a bidding war for him, either. There's an element of balance and off-setting the contract involved here. Plus, Ings counts as a homegrown player - which also adds value. (Perez is actually 30 years old just a month from now)
The more I think of it the more I like the signing of Ings, just been reading his profile and he seems a genuine nice guy..............looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
There’s no doubt he could potentially be a good edition, but I’m underwhelmed. There should be more to signing a player than whether he is home grown or not. Smacks of desperation to me
We have a striker who gets injured a lot, a striker nobody can apparently see, a striker who can't score goals and an young striker who isn't ever going to make it. If that's not the definition of desperate I don't know what is!
One good season, three years injured. With his style of play he needs good service, cos he won't create his own opportunities (so basically the same as Austin and Gabbi). Kinda feels like we have re-signed J-Rod.
No doubt going back to before he signed for Pool for more money than we were willing to offer. Understandable that people are skeptical. I'm sure Danny comes here feeling the pressure to deliver after the injuries and time out. @Black I understand. JRod, is a lovely guy, popular and likeable. Scored loads for a season and then lost 3 years to injury. We ended up shipping him out because we didnt give him a chance to get on the pitch. To then go and sign a player who ticks almost every box on that list does seem somewhat circular.
In fairness, Jay only missed a year and a half. Ings' injury problems have been far worse than his ever were, and Jay was more prolific in the PL.
I think Ings is a better player than Jay... he just went to a club a little too big for him. No moaning from me, we needed a striker and we got one. Maybe not a 30 goal a season guy but them we couldn't afford that anyways. Least I know the guy will put in 100% for us and won't be a dick head behind the scenes. We should be grateful we aren't relying on Carillo
