You could say my jinx helped it along....... But regardless, I'm just happy we start the new season with Mark & a proper back ground team.
Without any signings, I reckon we'd still finish above Hudders, Cardiff & Brighton. (But don't tell the board I said that)
Another positive is Hughes will know what areas he'd like to strengthen and players that he'd like to sell already.
Me neither but tbf we could say the same about anyone else that was appointed. I like the early signs. He is not a Poch but I'm hopeful.
Like DTLW Said a while ago, It was agreed and done.. Don't know why ppl believe all this other bollocks...
That’s about where I am at. I voted “Not sure” but I think it is pretty unlikely I would have voted “yes” to anyone we could realistically appoint. And I would have voted “Not sure” to Pochettino, Koeman, and Puel as well at the time of their appointments. I still care way more about what happens at the ownership/board level than anything else.
Ideally would have preferred this to have happened a week ago, but hey, it's done now. Good you have you on board full-time, Mark. Now for the club to have full focus on player recruitment.
To be fair, DTLW Said it was agreed a week ago no? Just not announced. I don't understand this need for it to be announced like it will effect anything within the business of Saints.
There has to have been a reason for the announcement not happening earlier though. I doubt everyone put pen to paper last week, but just for a laugh decided to wait a week to make a statement. I've got no reason to doubt that it was 99.9% done last week. But until it was 100% done, the club couldn't turn their full attention away from the issue. But as I say, it's done now. We move on.
Seriously though; phew! ffs, what ever the reasons I don’t quite understand (as a pure fan pleb) how come how long? Anyway, LR/RK; stellar!! Love you both (blue, ultra blue).
Les Reed yet again not adding a statement from himself into the announcement. Either he's still trying to keep his head down, or things are on the move behind the scenes.
I’m more optimistic now than I was when we announced Puel and that last trainee we had in charge. We start from a known position for the first time in I can’t remember how long. A manager who is familiar with the club and his squad, a squad without any Liverpool and spurs targets in it. Only the World Cup to provide distraction but without all the world class players we aren’t as affected as previously. Up the saints. I can back this decision and will also be keeping my fingers crossed that this is a good match of squad and manager.
