All good. Baby 2 months old. Mum still my little girl, even though at 28 she doesn’t think so [emoji16]
I'm not convinced that it works out either, but it's the move that had to be made. The players appear to have wanted Hughes, and very much appear to have not wanted the two managers previous, so any other new hire would have been in a near-impossible situation. Sometimes you have to ride it out.
Perhaps MH wouldn't have agreed a new contract, unless he had a guarantee of a fair amount of money to spend! I am happy with his appointment, as perhaps he may not **** off if he is successful.
I am very pleased that Mark Hughes has the opportunity to manage us next season, we have the players to definately push into the top half again. He has brought the fans back and the players feel unified with them.. a good pre season and we could have a good campaign. I'm expecting more than the average saints fan and actually expecting him to exceed expectations of most.
If anyone took into consideration the views of our under performing and petulant bunch of players in making this decision then I doubt their competence to run a football club. This is all going to end in tears.
I hope so too, but it is that “known” that leaves me unsure. I really will back him, but knowing Saints fans, there could be a lot of moaning around January Absolutely agree.
Not dancing about the room, but only because I couldn't see any other outcome...total silence on any other front suggested that it was down to sorting out the colour scheme of his office and the luncheon vouchers. I think we are in a different phase of our progress...we reached a bump in the road and clambered over it...now we need to regroup. The team responded to Mark, so would seem foolish not to appoint him...not a good idea to spend a summer looking for a yet another manager with all the 'getting to know you' that that entails. I'm hoping for football that is more interesting to watch....without expecting a return to the Poch era. A good solid year or two whilst the club discovers it's new identity under Gao. Sounds boring?...no, more a case of being sensible....Rome wasn't built in a day.
A competent replacement for an incompetent replacement for a just about competent replacement for Koeman...
Look at it from the players point of view. Is it better to be on holiday and learn that you are returning to a manager that you had last year that you got on with....or waiting to hear who your manager is with no idea what style you will play...or even if you will fit in and be given a chance to play. My guess is that they are all chilled and now looking forward to returning to action and the trip to China.
Like most other people, excited? No. Relieved? Yes Now get on with the vital work of moving on those that want to/need to go and bring in the five or six new superstars that are going to help us reach mid table medocraty
Probably right, but they would also know that things can go wrong. As only stock pictures and quotes have been wheeled out, we must presume Sparky is still on holiday....so expect signing pictures sometime soon. A few on Saintsweb seem to think he was not Reed's choice, but I don't know how they arrived at that conclusion. Be interesting to see if he features in said posed signing shots.
There seems to be some doubt about Les’ future. He too could be on holiday. . He could also be running round Europe with his cheque book
Agreed with that till the end I just want our games to be exciting rather than mediocre....Being midtable in a top league like the EPL is hardly mediocre. I wouldn't be disappointed with 8th next season...but I want some good results along the way.
This is the bit that I think will cause angst for our fans next season. I’m pretty sure the results will be better.
All sort of rumours about Les, but could be all made up....or hoped for. The only thing I've seen suggesting that he is not firmly on the throne was a throwaway comment at the end of an article in the Telegraph/Times (?). I don't mind if he stays or goes (as like most people, I have no real understanding of what is going on), but we should remember that he was here through the good stuff as well as the bad. Perhaps his face no longer fits and we may end up with a Ralph Mk II as Director of Football.
