Yes, again you are. But it’s Sunday Watford ( I think) and I’m bored going over the same political crap of point scoring.
Nothing could have prepared the World for this... nothing. Some countries will deal with it better than others. We have what we have and just need to get on with it. Plenty of countries with top medical stuff getting a kicking from this. Plenty of countries will come out of this in a bad financial way. Instead of holding on to anti-government headlines from the Guardian you need to wait until it’s over and then make an informative decision. Until then you are just part of a group that is trying to knock the government at every opportunity.
And yes Germany has a great pharma and medical system. So does France but they were bailed out in week 1 by Germany

How long ago was it that Johnson stood up at PMQs and said that antibody tests would be imminently available? It seems to me that these tests are probably more important than the antigen tests. Eager to please, the PM has over-promised and under-delivered on this issue. I suspect that there may already be millions who have had the virus and are immune. We need to get people back to work.

Well, true, but not really an answer to my question. So you would relax the restrictions regardless of anti body test availability? Your suspicions may well be true, but hardly constitute ‘evidence’.

Some of that is true. It doesn’t change the fact that we had the choice to be a part of EU procurement of vital products to help deal with it, declined and then lied about doing so.

It’s not point scoring. It’s discussing what can only be putting ideology over lives. I could focus on some of the other dithering which is more just old-fashioned incompetence than anything to do with ideology.

Part of me says yes, but on balance, no, I wouldn't relax restrictions until the antibody tests are available. We just need to get the bleeding things out there.

The vast majority of those who contract it will feel or mild symptoms, some will feel like they’ve got flu, for which the vast majority don’t go to hospital.

It is not an acutely infectious disease, as stated by the government, as advised by public health.

I’m happy to be called that, I am most days by my wife, sometimes my kids too.

But actually, unlike previous questions I’ve asked about world events, when I was ridiculed, this time, so far no one’s calling me anything.

Only SB has responded to the astonishing reclassification of the disease as no longer an HCID, and he found it odd - he certainly pulls me up when he feels it necessary.

Fear is the greatest way of controlling a population and we’ve been fed fear by the media on this for weeks now, relentlessly.

Trump is an imbecile, but his 'why make the cure worse than the problem' line chimes with me a little.

I’d add to your comments that the vast majority of those that do die from/with COVID have underlying health issues....
What you say Woody certainly isn’t nuts.

I think that philosophy will win out eventually in the UK and US, once the health systems (such as there is one in the US) can show they will not be overwhelmed. Boris does not want 20000 plus deaths on his political CV. Trump seems a little more phlegmatic about a high death toll based on his survival of the fittest-type capitalism

Just been given the news that my late father’s last surviving sibling, my uncle, is on a ventilator with the coronavirus, possibly contracted whilst in hospital dealing with existing old-age ailments. He’s in his mid-70s***

Obviously my aunt can’t even visit because of both the risk and restrictions. He’s already been asked if he wants to be resuscitated should his condition worsen.

    ****, innit?

    [***correction: he’s 79]
