joe root got his average above 50. harry brook's wicket saw his plunge from over 100 to under 90.

Pity Brook didn't reach is 200, but at least Rooty got his 150 no. Good day for the bowlers, rain stopped play with NZ 138 -7, though Blundell is still there on 25 and Southee 23, break this partnership and then well into the tail.

with the first boundary of the day, former yorkshire player kane williamson became new zealand's highest run scorer.

hoping that's all they get to smile about.

Well, this is going to be interesting, NZ all out for 483, so England needs 257 to win. Brook got Williamson out for 132 bowling.<yikes>

Eng wobbling. Chasing 258, now on 80/4, Brook and Root at the wicket. Yorkshire to the rescue?

Yes, they're all saying Root's call. Not going to contradict David Gower (!) but I always thought it was the batter running to the danger end who called, so Brook in this case.
    Either way he's out. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

What a test match, NZ win by one run, it so near but so far. A wonderful advert for test cricket through, I guess NZ on balance deserves that for the 2nd innings.

    i guess.

i reckon if the weather forecast had been better, we might not have made them follow on. as it was, the forecast wipe out of day 3 didn't happen. don't think any time was lost after day 2. nz wouldn't have scored that may batting fourth. oh well.

Indeed, as it turned out probably it would have been better to have not enforced the follow-on, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Currently staying somewhere that has SKY, so I was looking forward to watching the Test. But, its only on ****ing BT, and all I get is 'upgrade your SKY subscription' The reason I cancelled SKY at home was because they switched the cricket to another pay channel without telling anyone. I found out when I got up in the middle of the night to watch the Ashes a few years back and couldn't access it. I'd cancelled it before breakfast same day. I thought it was back on SKY now??
I just fail to see why you have to pay extra to watch the national team playing, what I consider playing the national sport ( alongside football obviously) on the telly.
So I've seen about two balls of this Test on the late night BBC news.
Missed a classic by the sounds of it and I know at least one Hull City stalwart who flew out to NZ to watch this series, he told me he was taking his Hull City flag, anyone see it?
Sweet revenge for the World Cup for the Kiwis.
