They did better than i thought they would. Would have been very interesting tomorrow if Trott had been given out in the last over ! Roach looks a good bowler.
Good win by England after a couple of hiccups. Windies maybe will have Gayle and Shillingford back for 2nd test, and Narine for 3rd.
Nice smooth finish today Stu, although there was no need to bowl Samuels for that long, he's simply not up to it.
No, they ran out of ideas once Roach ran out of steam. Thats why Narine is so important to them - i really hope he, and Gayle, are available for the third test. Looking forward to the ODI's , as they will be a force, what with Gayle,Narine,Pollard,Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith and Andre Russell available. Them with Roach, Sammy,Samuels,Ramdin ,The other Bravo and Barath, and maybe Edwards and they will be strong force.
Friday start for 2nd test tomorrow - unusual , but caused by the rule which says that there will be at least 3 days break between Tests - and we wil see more and more Friday Tests. Windies likely to bring back Shillingford for Gabriel who is injured, and i would expect England to be unchanged except for maybe Finn instead of Bressy. Nice weather forecast, cant wait .
Cracking recovery from Samuels and Sammy, Windies make 304-6 at close of play. This should be a very good test match.
Yep, fantastic recovery.Hats off to Sammy and Samuels - personally i didnt think Sammy had it in him ! England have an incredible record at Trent Bridge recently, but need to get them out for less than 375 to have a chance of winning this one.
Very fine day's play - Samuels carrying on his good form and Sammy, well it wasn't exactly orthodox but what an innings...deserves his ton tomorrow then a few quick wickets I hope and get stuck in on an absolute belter.
Yes Tewkes, what a fabulous day for watching cricket ! Very impressed with England today, they seeme d alot more focussed than yesterday. Can see KP flaying them to all parts tomorrow morning - should be a real treat if it happens. Actually had an offer of a ticket for tomorrow, but couldnt make it. I've got England to get to 650 for maybe 6 wickets by EOP tomorrow then declare with 700 on the board, and put the Windies back in by lunch on day 4. Think this could be a day for Matty Prior - i love Matty, such an aggressive batsman, and such a team player. I watched him at Lords last season play one of the best innings i've seen from a England Batsman against India
Wonderful - two poor decisions from the West Indies today - not to bowl Roach immediately after lunch and to send Edwards in straight off his sick bed, dear me. Anderson and Broad at their sharpest, then Bresnan pin-point accurate. Boycott at his most dismissive today - Bresnan is "a tail ender" - you can't bat as well as bowl, then? And he "can't understand why Sammy would set a special field for a No.9 batsman", that batsman being the century making Stuart Broad - what a tedious, self-absorbed pedant.
Very smooth performance today and a deserved win. Boycott-ism of the day - talking about Darren Sammy, who made a century in the first innings and swayed beautifully away from a very quick bouncer - "he's coming in late down the order and played that like a proper batsman". A*se.
Boycott is a total northern monkey. I spent 2 years working in Leeds, and god, that was 2 years too many.
So what do we think about KP retiring from the short format of the game? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/18280196
A big shame - at only 31 too. Suppose he's made enough money in IPL, so he wants a bit of a rest. I mean, going touring in winter to places like Windies,Oz and South Africa must be hell !
For those with Sky - Kent playing Warks right now - and Adam Ball bowling for Kent - he's a Charlton season ticket holder.
