So he admits that the name change is down to the spat with the City Council. The bloke's a buffoon. And who mentioned Coventry as a good example of maximising revenue ?
OLM, thinking about this sentence "He made clear that this failure is a key reason for wanting to drop the word 'City' from the club's name" can you confirm there should be a NOT before the word wanting. I'm confused
It's not a mistake, he wants to drop City from our name, as he doesn't want Hull City Council to be bathed in any reflected glory.
If that is the case then it's pathetic. Personal vindictive spats rarely make for good business decisions.
He's quite clearly said he wants us to be called Hull Tigers, I'm amazed that some people still don't realise it's the 'City' that he wants to drop.
yes I bleedin' know that - it's the reason why he wants to drop it. We all laughed when someone suggested it was because the word 'City' was also in Hull City Council - but now we know that's the reason. Nowt to do with raising revenue from the east.
His prime driver is a desire to generate more income, but he's done no research and is yet to find out that changing our name will do nothing to increase our revenue, the fact that he thinks he's found a way to do it while pissing off the council was merely a bonus.
One good point is the time scale, actually that is IMO just about all that is. One thing that has to be said. If Assem Allam had been able to buy(?) the stadium we would not have to a: consider the name change b: look elsewhere for investment Those are the facts and I do not believe that it is possible for this to be reversed. Assem Allam cannot now buy(?) the stadium, nor can he build us a new one. So the only route to investment is by attracting in someone who can either develop the stadium or build a new one.

It is all very childish sadly. Dr Allam should not drop his very high standards to the level of the HCC. Lets hope that he can see the wider picture. I myself dont care about the AFC as most modern fans dont know about it or use it. To some it could well stand for Arkwrights Food Centre. No chance. Hull City Tigers sounds and looks much better imo.
Dr Allam has to travel a long way to ever get to Hull Tigers. Is there not a rule that the FA would require a fan vote before any change was allowed. ? Just asking. But Hull City Tigers would be a better compromise. The AFC part is like the Betamax video.
HULL CITY: ALLAM ADMITS ‘RENAME PLAN IS A NEGOTIATING TACTIC’ Hull City fans have revealed that the attempt to rename Hull City AFC as ‘Hull Tigers’ is all centred around an argument over control of the stadium. The KC Stadium was funded by the sale of the City Council’s shares in Hull Telecom, and owned by the Council since it was built, for both Rugby League side Hull FC and the football club. ‘Dr Allam claimed there to be ‘financial constraints’, which he ‘blames on his inability to take ownership of the KC Stadium from Hull City Council. He made clear that this failure is a key reason for him wanting to drop the word “City” from the club’s name.’ in a meeting with campaign group, ‘City Till We Die’. All in all this appears to have some striking similarities seen in the case of Coventry City, where Joy Seppala – who controls the club through hedge fund SISU Capital – appears to have selected a hard-nosed negotiating tactic involving moving the club ‘temporarily’ to Northampton, where attendances have collapsed, with subsequent questions emerging about whether the three-to-five year ‘plan’ can get much past the end of this season. Some might also point to the ‘rebranding’ of Cardiff City in the face of opposition by supporters – which has broken out again with recent reports about the interference of Vincent Tan in team affairs. Dr Assem Allam have won something of a concession, in that Allam has said he won’t do anything ‘until market research and consultation with the fans have been completed’. Campaign group ‘City Till We Die’, who presented Allam with a petition with over 4500 signatures, said that Allam is in the middle of a dispute over property, saying: All in all, another unedifying example of what happens when private owners don’t – or won’t – understand that clubs are not simply businesses to invest in, or assets to trade. http://www.supporters-direct.org/ne...-is-a-negotiating-tactic#sthash.MdrF2oHH.dpuf
To many it would. Well maybe Dr Allam needs a little education on our name. As for the AFC i cannot remember the last time i used it. It really is old school and not very important. But i shall never accept the dropping of City from our name. FACT.
