Daily Mail reporting we have agreed a £2.25 million fee for him. From the article looks like Hobbs is a separate deal where they want him on loan but we will command a loan fee (but his new Premier league wages providing a problem for them) Also say we are interested in Carlton Cole on a FAT, torn on this one we do need a big ****er up front and he is a good player on his day, but "his day" just doesn't come often enough! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Birmingham-West-Ham-striker-Carlton-Cole.html
Carlton Cole is just the sort of striker we need though, if it is true. Most his career in the top flight, so he knows what it's all about. Great for a freebie if we pull it off.
I wouldn't mind getting Cole, as long as he's not our main forward signing. I wonder if Cole was the unknown striker Hutch was talking about..
Cole is a seasoned proven Premier League striker. Elmander had one decent season from 3 in the PL. if we signed a 3rd striker (which we need IMHO) then Elmander would be great assuming Hooper or Austin are our primary targets.
In what way is Cole proven? In 13 seasons in the Prem he has manage to get his goal tally into double figures on 3 occasions and in two of those he scored 10. I think Elmander is superior because he is streets ahead in terms of technical ability. Cole is just a big lump who you can hoof the ball up to from defence whereupon he miss controls it and gives it away again.
Hahaha, I do love how English people in general have this profound over-hype for the domestic players I'm not saying that Elmander is a better player, although I probably would prefer him in a random team. I do however think that Cole would suit us better if Brady and Aluko will be running down the wings!
1 in 4 strike ratio. Capped by England at every level. FREE. Younger. Played most of his career in the PL.
