Good Lord is the racing that bad that no one has any thoughts about anything that is out today! One of my favourite named horses, Cyril the Squirrel runs in the 4:40 at Salisbury but it may not be able to beat today's nap, For What, this horse did the rounds of the all weather circuit before having a run on grass in July, went off as favourite but found one better. Today the day to make ammends.
Presto Volante goes again today in the lucky last at Salisbury. I have a bit of a soft spot for him after a win on him last time out, he may find testing ground and the step up in trip (again) and class too much today though so only a few pennies.
1.30 Salisbury - Lions Arch, 4/1... This Hannon runner came 5th lto at Doncaster over the same 1m as here today at a big price of 40/1. Jimmy Fortune rode him that day when he beat the Hughes pick of Emulating, finishing back in 8th. Hughes takes the ride today instead, which is also a positive for me, and can improve for that run. Greatwood is probably right to be fav in the race but i think Hughes can get that little bit extra out of Lions Arch to make an impression here... We shall see... Might even put the fav up in Toppy's Lay King thread...
14:40 Newcastle - Krupskaya (Head thicker than usual this morning after visit to Oktoberfest yesterday. However, will have a small bet on this French-bred filly (late foal) who should be suited by 7f distance and, as breeding would suggest, may well appreciate prevailing soft ground conditions. Decent chance IMVHO). GL to anyone having a wager today! please log in to view this image
Shout Jongluer, stuck it in a yankee. I thought Tudhope gave second a funny ride, horse practically pulling his arms off 2f out, DT pulling him back, gave Krupskaya a 2/3length head start. One for the tracker I think Glacial Age, looked a nice horse on debut, cruised up alongside very stylishly.
Some cracking value in the Footy tonight... City Evs at home to B.Dortmund PSG 2/1 away at Porto Anderlecht 2/1 home to Malaga
4.30 Nottingham Lyric Ballad 66/1 Will probably do nothing but have to have a play at 66s. Hughie Morrison's 2 year old looks well enough bred being by a half sister a Listed 2 year old winner and although Morrison's horses generally don't win first time out I've noticed that this race (well division 1 of it) is where the stable star Shirocco Star made her debut last year when finishing 2nd at a big price. Rab Havlin, who rode Shirocco Star on debut, takes the ride and comes over to Nottingham for 3 rides having flown over for a ride in Germany this morning and I'm presuming he's flying to Nottingham for at least one good ride. Definitely worth a small e/w at the price and she's a horse I'll be following. Now gone 100s with Boyles.
Well done Swanny on your selection...I was at Oktoberfest exactly 10 years ago so know how you're feelin'! No bet for me again.
Oddy, Dexter! Feeling a bit better now. Have to say maybe overdid it a bit as the old capacity ain't what it used to be!
Jeff i couldnt be backing Man City. They havnt kept a clean sheet all season and are'nt really gelling at the moment.I reckon malaga can sneak an away win at anderlect.I'm on madrid win away to ajax and aresenal to beat olympiakos which pays around evens, good luck
Iv backed Malaga, City and Shalke in a treble Though Malaga played well against Zenit in the last game. also gone for Boro, Blackburn and Cheltenham in a treble & Many City -1, Real Madrid -1 and Aresnal -1 in a treble too goodluck to all who play !!
