Praise from the gaffer for young Neil there. Good to hear and hope he's another academy lad that can prove himself good enough for league football this season, along with Diamond. H'way the youngsters there marra. “Tuesday might come too soon for Elliot and I've got to say, Dan Neil came on and was excellent,” he said. “He's been another standout in pre-season so far with his footballing ability and did well today, just like Jack Diamond [who produced an assist for Will Grigg’s goal].” https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...-standout-youngster-gateshead-display-2950252
I agree, we need their attitude in the dressing room ... ... we can't have old plodders draining the life out of it.
The likes of Leadbitter and Graham (assuming he signs of course) would be good. Think a cluster of youth, and experience is what we need
Be class if those three prove themselves good enough. That would give us 5 academy graduates in the first team squad that could all potentially improve further. I'd be well chuffed at that.
I read that the other way round, the thread title and added in an extra letter and got angry because I thought we were going to be signing Neil Danns ha ha.
Those of a certain vintage will remember when Jimmy Adamson threw in Rowell, Arnott and Elliott in the team in the Mid 70's...their youth, enthusiasm and skill transformed a team of plodders, we played, Middlesbrough, West Brom and West Ham won 4-0, 6-1 and 6-0...great days
We need these young local lads in the team. They have a vested interest being supporters as well as living the dream, to get the club promoted.
Apart from the 1973 run this was my favourite spell watching Sunderland, though it all ended up in tears. Seems to be the SAFC way.
We were the lowest scorers in the division till we went on our unbeaten run, also Boro had the best defence, but we knocked 4 past them.
like the look of dan, along with the other lads has not put a foot wrong...there will be a mistake or two in there as with any player, hope they get it out of their system afore the crowds are back (like mathews the day) but so far, very good.
Crowds can ruin players confidence before they get started, might be an ideal time to make the step up.
I was as well , we nearly managed a great escape just a pity we didn’t change things a little bit earlier heartbreaking in the end .
