Might do. Will depend on qualifications. There are minimum standards in academies for coaching roles. Does anyone know how long he has been involved?
I don't think it's much of a loss at all. It's not like our academy is pumping too many world beaters into our first team. I'd say he's very much dispensable given his track record. Hopefully we are due some compensation and Speakman can bring in his own man.
Good time for this to happen imo. Speakman can concentrate on bringing in his replacement before he sets about recruiting players in January. How's Stockdale doing at Rochdale?
The more I think about this, the more I think the decision was agreed mutually. Part of Speakman changing the footballing side and wanting his own people in that fit the style and an opportunity for Dickman to have a new challenge, 26yrs is a long time in football. It does suprise me though as I'd expect massive changes in their backroom staff at all levels now. Wonder how long he lasts.
It does seem an odd move for him other than financially motivated. Here he has a genuine chance of developing first team players. He’s moved to a club that are essentially publicly saying they will be buying their first team from now on. I will add however, that if they’re offering him a huge pay rise, I don’t think anybody can blame him. He wasn’t a pro and will want to improve his quality of life like anybody would. He’s also obviously not a Sunderland fan otherwise I doubt he’d make such a move. So I kinda think fair play to him and move on. I guess that’s what Speakman et al are thinking as well.
