A typical Dillon performance v Leeds. A couple of excellent saves. At least half a dozen goal kicks wasted. Andy Marshall should be working with him on the latter ...
Probably is, but it's been a problem since the under 18's, so it may be hard to eradicate. He's got safe hands, but this might stop him from becoming a top top goalie.
There were a few groans around us on Saturday at some of his kicking & throwing. Tom Lockyer also gestured to him at one stage, as a rocket launcher went straight down the middle of the pitch to their back 4. Can accurate kicking really be that difficult?
Fluffed two goal kicks, I remember him doing that as a 17-year-old. You would expect him to have sorted it by now. Maybe a sports psychologist?
Amos was poor to start with for us the season b4 last... he grew into the keeper no1 position and kept Phillips out on merit by the end of the season.
Amos is the better keeper IMO. Dillon is good, but he gets a free pass from the Ben Hayes - types on Charlton forums, who see him as “proper Charlton”.
Phillips is in the team on merit. Bowyer would drop him otherwise. Deano's kicking wasn't as bad, but it was still sh1t.
Amos is not the better keeper in my opinion. Very poor for Millwall last season. Had a terrible game for us in a pre-season game against Villa. Dived over the ball to let a soft goal in the U23 game. If Phillips had done this he would be pilloried. Phillips has been very consistent for us this season and last season. He should be given more praise than he is being given.
I don't give players a free pass because he came from the Academy. Phillips is being picked by Bowyer on merit.
Not sure why you mention Millwall DP - Amos was outstanding for us the season before that (POTY ?). Consistently a 9/10 that season - in fact at Bradford away and again at Rochdale away, he made the two best saves I have ever seen from any Charlton keeper. I would put Amos in as soon as Dillon makes a howler.
I mention Millwall because he played there last season and he was awful according to my Millwall mate. Yes he played well the season before last for us. You are always a better player when you are out of the team. Even if Phillips makes a howler I would still keep him in the side.
No manager will drop a keeper for one howler. They all make them. Think of Nick Pope's howlers and look at him now.
The last time I made a mistake was in 2006 …. when I said that Alan Pardew could be the new Curbs Talking of Pardew https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...ardew-compares-achievements-leicester-3373152 What a man!
Pardew is utterly deluded. Fans will remember Leicester being Champions for decades to come. Who'll remember Newcastle for finishing fifth? I seem to remember they were fifth when they sacked Bobby Robson...
