Sunderland travel to Doncaster in the SkyBet League One Last time out Sunderland lost to MK Dons and Doncaster lost to Wolves U21s. Sunderland will be looking to turn things around after 3 straight defeats, and mid-week results mean that they drop out of the play-off places. Elliot Embleton has returned to training this week and could form a part of the squad that travels to the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend. Conor McLaughlin and Tom Flanagan could both come back into contention after missing the last two games after being on international duty, but they will be assessed upon their return to Wearside given the busy schedule that Northern Ireland have endured. Dan Neil and Brandon Taylor have both trained with the first-team this week with the under-23 side without a fixture. Rovers have already secured eye-catching results against Charlton Athletic, Portsmouth and Ipswich Town this season, and Sunderland will do well to learn some lessons from their triumphs against other teams in promotion contention. Ben Whiteman is the one to watch for Donny, who dictates play for Rovers from deep and higher up the pitch. Southampton loan winger Josh Sims is another that has looked very bright since joining on deadline day. He's very quick, has a great touch and is very direct. Like Whiteman, he looks like he's playing at least a level below where he should be. Centre half Tom Anderson has been dominant at the back for Rovers over the last 18 months and seems to have been operating under the radar as one of the best defenders at the level. Phil Parkinson: “We had a great start, took a while to play with the quality we needed to in the first half, we got into our stride well and then were disappointed to concede a goal.” “Livid with the goal that we conceded after the break, three mistakes, but the bottom line is that we can not keep missing chances in the six-yard box and expect to win football matches.” “We had three, four, five moments where we needed either a finish from close in or a better decision to go and win that game comfortably.” “To say that is frustrating is a massive understatement.” Darren Moore: “blah blah” 6th November 2020: Doncaster Rovers can confirm that manager Darren Moore and his coaching staff are required to self-isolate following news received at 7pm on Thursday that they have been in contact with a positive COVID-19 case. Match Appointments: Referee: John Busby Assistant Referees: Andrew Dallison and Mark Cunliffe Fourth Official: David Rock Team Line ups Sunderland: Burge, O’Nien, Flanagan, Wright, Sanderson, Hume, Leadbitter, Scowen, Embleton, Gooch, Wyke. Doncaster Rovers: Lumley, Wright, Anderson, Jones, Amos, Whiteman, James, Taylor, Smith, Sims, Okenabirhie Subs: Halliday, Lokilo, Williams, Butler, Coppinger, Ravenhill Injured: John-Jules, Tulloch Betting Odds: Home 22/21 Away 12/5 Draw 23/10 My two pence: That’s 3 defeats in a row. OK maybe only the last one really mattered, but it was such a poor performance against MK Dons with some shocking finishing and two goals conceded due to unnecessary fouls. The EFL have said that we can use up to 5 subs – lets see if Parky changes his ways, but I’m not holding my breath… I’m going for a 1-1 Draw. Another awful performance and defeat for me. Really hopes he starts Embleton but knowing PP he wont even make the bench
Cracking thread as always. Sadly I think we are in a bit of a rut and I just don’t see us scoring enough goals to win games particularly away from home. Pray for a win but sadly I think our away day woes may just continue. Beaten by the odd goal.
Many thanks for a great thread as always RTB. I've gone for the draw, but I'm expecting us to lose this one because Doncaster have some quick players, which as we all know, our lads can't cope with pace. Sadly, I think it will be a long journey back up the A1M with our tails between our legs after losing 3-1.
Great thread as always RTB, I doubt that bench will scare the opposition as much as it scares me tho.
Took us for a win as I always do, not very confident tbh but sounds cany the coaching staff won’t be there and the keepers just ****ed off so fingers crossed.
RTB I also like your team, Jurassic will not pick it. I have voted away win, but we could draw or lose...I have no confidence... probably not spend the £10 anyhow
Took us to lose. I hate doing that. The reason is I think PP will play the usual effing experienced useless tw*ts. If he plays the bairns and sticks Embers and Diamond in I think they will ignore PPs instructions and we will win.
2-0 comfortable home win with the usual suspects being absolutely ****e for us. Not confident at all with this one.
That last game was a real shocker, but I am expecting a draw here for some reason. We need to start winning again soon though, and like many fans, I am not confident that Parky, or his chosen few are anywhere near good enough to do the job. We will see.
Can see a comfortable 3-0 win for Doncaster. Go 1 down early and then they will just smash us on the counter for the rest of the game. Our only hope is if Parkinson finally plays a few of the young lads.. so on that note. 3-0 defeat then.
We already look like we are going backwards and Parkinson is bereft of ideas. Cant see anything other than a defeat. My starting XI prediction is the same as the OP bit with Gooch next to Scowen with Leadbitter sat deeper
Just noticed England v Ireland Rugby on at 15.00pm as well... Radio for match and TV on silent for rugby, who says men cannot multi task
