A plaque honouring Ebenezer Cobb Morley is being unveiled at the Hull History Centre on Worship Street at 10.00am on Saturday(apparently the house he was born in was originally on/near the site of the History Centre). please log in to view this image
Great to see. Football is the most popular sport in the world and a man from Hull had a huge say in making the game we all know and love - the city should really do more about this fact.
The buggers have done gone and wrecked his hoose. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...Thames-collapsed-caving-like-tower-cards.html
There was a campaign gathering some momentum on Twitter to get him a statue earlier this year/last year?. Sadly it appears to have fizzled out now.
As the meeting took place in London, it really should not be a surprise that the plague is there. Cobb Morley came from Hull, the FA was formed 154 years ago in London.
Plague hit London in 1665 dinnit? Or was that the Black Death? Or are they the same thing? I'm away to check the wives armpits for bubboes, she's sneezing uncontrollably again.
Sorry just to clarify, I spelt plague went I meant plaque. I hope no one confuses the FA's black plaque with the Black Plague (otherwise known as The Black Death) black plaque that is in Weymouth as the FA's black plaque has nothing to do with the black plague.
1665? I think you're thinking of the Great Fire, which was in 1666, and pretty much killed off the Plague with it.
