Absolutely tragic, not only was Ugo an incredible player in his day but also seemed a great guy and was clearly immensely respected around Spurs. May he RIP, thoughts with his family. Thoughts with you and your family also @Rocky blue army, stay strong and know that we're all here for you mate. x
The comments from everyone in football show just what an amazing person Ugo was. All of those messages from the academy players are a clear indication of the role he played in their lives, and how much he meant to them on and off the pitch. His teachings will remain with those young lads forever, as well as everyone who knew him. Rest In Peace, Ugo.
Terrible, terrible news. I do hope the difference in time between going to North Midd, and Chase Farm (which no longer has A+E facilities) would have had no bearing on saving his life.
This is so very, very sad. I'm usually a big Twitter non-fan, but in this case it really is helpful. Apparently Ugo's last tweet explained an unplanned act of kindness. I like to think that helping those less fortunate through means of your own choosing may be a fitting tribute to him. https://twitter.com/hashtag/dosomet...ternational-dies-heart-attack-training-center
RIP Ugo. Clearly earned a lot of respect from those that he played and worked with. Only 44 and he clearly still took good care of himself. I hope it wasn't something treatable that got overlooked. Just for those that haven't seen his final tweet: It would be a nice tribute to him if that caught on and did some good.
Just reading the tributes from the young players at the club shows how much he will be missed and how much he helped them Win tomorrow for Ugo lads
Proud to support a club that we can rightly say to still have a 'FAMILY' On such a sad day, it is a heart-warming thought
Great words from Gareth Southgate: "Most importantly, he was a gentleman and he is one of those characters that people would find it difficult to have anything bad to say about him. "I probably played more games with Ugo than anybody else in my career and while in many ways he was a gentle giant away from football, he was a colossus on the pitch. It felt like a true partnership with Ugo because we were prepared to put our bodies on the line for each other. "We shared highs, lows and won a couple of trophies together with Villa and Boro and it's those memories that I will always cherish when I think of Ugo. "He was one of the most professional people I played with in terms of how he applied himself to his job and it was great to see him progressing through the coaching pathway with that thirst for learning. "I've spoken to several of our former team-mates today and there's just a sense of disbelief that we're having these conversations. "Ugo was a credit to football, a credit to his family and he will be missed by everybody who was lucky enough to know him."
Nicely put. Southgate and Ehiogu was a superb partnership. Very well balanced and they knew each other's game perfectly. I always think of them playing together, rather than individually. Must've played a lot of games as a pairing.
RIP Ugo - its made the headlines here as well many Australian footballers were touched by his kind caring manner. Carpe Diem everyone - semi final has a new meaning today
I now wish I had known Ugo more, you rarely see such genuine grief from public figures. I feel I have missed a really worthwhile life because it's very clear that we are talking about one of the good guys.
