    I heard somewhere that Barcelona & Real Madrid (last two survivors of the original ESL Dirty Dozen) are trying to recruit the likes of RB Leipzig and Lyon into their "Super League".

    Wow. That's really going to blow away the pay-TV punters in America and China :emoticon-0113-sleep
    At this rate, Rangers and Celtic are in with a shout of getting invited <laugh>

    And here's the list (as far as I know it) of Clubs who've already refused to touch it with a barge pole;
    Bayern Munich
    Dortmund
    Porto
    PSG

    and doubtless there are more.

    Particularly cringeworthy I thought was the feeble excuse used by Arsenal and Chelsea;
    That they heard the Super League was happening (a done deal) and they thought being in it was the lesser of two evils (compared to being left out) <doh>

    That shows they have less moral backbone than a liver fluke.

    The Big Two must be popular in Spain, Shabby?

    I really haven't seem much debate here. Pèrez in his interviews was given a very soft ride indeed a la Jim White/ Duchatalet. Zidane refused to comment at all.
    Non ESL clubs were fairly unimpressed, but despite Barça and RM continuing to push ahead, there is no real debate about punishment. I think maybe in Spain they are so used to the big two hoovering up everything the idea they want even more and plan to lock everyone else out is just a continuation.

    According to Perez, the 12 clubs who agreed to join the ESL have binding contracts tying them to the league so can't just leave.

    I have no idea whether that's true or not, but you can bet your bottom dollar that several lawyers are going to get even richer over this debacle.

    It would also show the 12 (and thus the 6 English clubs) in an even worse light, if they have indeed already signed binding contracts. It obviously went much, much further than being just an idea which was still being worked on. Disgraceful.

    Surely Man City can afford better lawyers than Real Madrid

    It might end up as a European Super League of Lawyers. Wonder if any of them will want Chris Farnell :emoticon-0127-lipss

    It's an utter farce <laugh>

    First we were told that the Billionaire owners pushing the ESL were "Lawyered up" and they were going to use the Courts as a battering ram to stifle any opposition to the Super League.
    The 12 Clubs were - in effect - going to nuke everyone, including opposing fans, with the power of their lawyers, and force the Super League down everybody's throat :emoticon-0165-muscl

    Super League Uber Alles. More bizarre and unreal than Donald Trump's 'Kraken' lawsuits "proving" he had won the 2020 US Election.

    Now, with just 2 teams left in the tattered ruins of the Super League, that clown Perez is saying the 10 other Clubs can't pull out! <doh>
    What is he going to do, FORCE them to play with court orders?

    What a f**king joke!
    What are Perez' lawyers going to do - put on some kit and boots and go kick a ball around a pitch themselves? :emoticon-0177-toivo

    Football fans and folk in general are sick and bloody tired of stupid rich men using Courts to try to force themselves on society like a drunk bully groping girls at a party.
    Florentino Perez can take his legal team and shove them up his arse.

    Unlike some, I don't subscribe unquestioningly to the oft-abused maxim that there are two sides to every story - which then gets subverted to the view that there are two equally legitimate sides to every story. That there is no 'right' or 'wrong' course, and that taking a strong stance in favour of one side is always a sign of ignorance or emotional immaturity.

    There was no legitimate defence for Roland Duchatelet's catastrophic stewardship of Charlton Athletic.

    There was no legitimate defence for Donald Trump's fostering of extremist violence and his attack on democracy.

    There is no legitimate defence for a relegation-proof elite 'Super League' in Europe.

    All of the men behind these behind these stories are motivated by greed and/or fear.
    Not a desire to make anything better. A desire to enrich themselves further, and increase their own power.
    If opposing that is a source of amusement to some, it's a very minor irritation compared to the harm that is being done - especially if people don't stand up against it. I'm proud that football fans and many others stood up to Perez and the billionaires, and wrecked their greedy scheme.

    Boris at his chameleon best. A lot of people like Boris. The Red Wall likes Boris, as someone said the other day. Good old Bojo. Boo hiss to Big Bad Dominic.

    It was a cunning plan by Boris to draw the evil plotters out into the open.
