I don't think they care. It was just another opportunity to bring Hillsborough up and make the biggest day for most England supporters, all about them by waving their victim cards about.
Not if you've got any mental strength. Disgusted at the amount of players who appear to have cried off taking one. Grealish, Sterling. Leaving a 19 year old kid who's never taken a penalty in a senior game to take the fall for them.
I haven't done any of those things. But I must admit, I won't save God Save the Queen. She can ****ing save herself.
After we scored our goal we were poor... Mancini seemed to have better tactics and his team more energy... We were hopeless at scoring penalties yet again, despite Pickford performing heroics.. Southgate to blame? Possibly, perhaps not?
We only turned them round in the first twenty minutes, after that they might as well have had a cigar on. I don't think we'll do anything in Qatar. Teams have sussed us - let them blow themselves out in the first twenty minutes and wait for them to hand the game to us.
OK our squad will be very 'together' throughout his reign, class. But we will also continue to be tactically outclassed and win nothing mainly due to his managerial limitations. Our squad were better than Italy but Mancini destroyed him tonight.
Southgate has said he selected the penalty takers and the order they'd be taking them. Yeah they weren't good penalties, but it was a penalty shoot-out, they can go either way. It is what it is.
This youngest squad in the tournament definitely won't change or get better as they continue to grow together. Teams have us sussed? We've just gone as far as we possibly could in a tournament
Then Southgate needs to explain why they were so dreadful. 'Owning the process' my arse. Almost every choice he made once the ball started moving was appalling last night. He's gotten away with equally poor choices in previous games but I doubt we'll have that run of luck again in a tournament. Only one convincing performance. When your keeper saves two penalties out of five in a shootout you expect to win it.
Dear Pity City, **** right off, we can handle this ourselves and are better off without self pitying ****ers like The Peoples Republic of Liverpool on The Mercy England were already home- The Kop Out
We'll get no better playing on the back foot. It's an obsolete style. Even the Italians are on the front foot these days. How many good performances the whole tournament? One. The one in which we were far more positive.
Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine and Denmark didn't "suss" us. This team has a lot more to offer. The talent in the squad is exciting
Rashford was. What was wrong with the others? The only thing was that the keeper guessed right. If you hit the target in a shootout you’ve done your job. If the keeper saves it he’s done his. Rashford missed. Wrong footed the keeper and missed. No excuse for that. Had the keeper gone the other way fir Saka and Sancho, we’d have won the trophy as for the “when your keeper saves” comment, had we won, it would have been because of “Pickford’s brilliance” most likely and not “poor penalties”. Because we lost, it’s because of poor penalties and not the Italian keeper’s brilliance. Suppose that makes sense
And we were very pleased to get to the final whistle in four of them. Performances build confidence. If you're scraping games 1-0 there's no margin for error, go and get a second goal, but instead we nearly always sat back and invited the opposition onto us, and the better opposition took advantage.
Rashford at least beat the keeper but not the post. Still far to casual and a bad penalty. But the other 2 were shocking. No pace, not in the corner and the most comfortable height for a keeper I've ever seen. You go high or low with pace and conviction. You shouldn't pass the ball towards the goal one way and hope the keeper goes the other and unlucky if he doesn't. Kanes was an example of a good penalty. Maguires was unreal but heart stopping in real time.
Does he? Maybe, just maybe they were the best 5 takers in training and these young lads just felt the pressure too much in the moment
You're on your own here, you've gone out on a limb and no-one is agreeing with you so you are stubbornly sticking to your point when you know you are wrong.
...and had we won? would everyone be having a southgate love in? i think he got it wrong in the final and did not do enough to change it, but let's remember it was the final, englands first in 55 years which shows it is no mean feat...the one thing that is clear to me is that the english cannot pass the ball around like other teams, we have always played better getting up the pitch quick, watched the '66 final again and banks was bouncing the ball once and throwing it straight to a player even though they were 3-2 up in extra time, these days he would have fallen on the ball, laid there as long as he could then fannied on for 5 minutes until he got a yellow card then given it to the nearest defender only to get it back again.
