As we enter at the first round, I thought it would be a good idea to start an FA Cup thread.

There were a fair few upsets today, which means we could very well be facing a much lower league side on November 7th/8th.

    Potential opponents:

    Woking
    Banbury United
    Havant and Waterlooville
    Boreham Wood
    Brackley Town
    Canvey Island
    Marine
    Concord Rangers
    Dagenham and Redbridge
    Darlington
    Eastbourne Borough
    Eastleigh
    FC United of Manchester
    Hampton and Richmond Borough
    Hartlepool United
    Kings Lynn Town/Notts County
    Barnet
    Cray Valley Paper Mills
    Maldon and Tiptree
    Torquay United
    Solihull Moors
    South Shields
    Skelmersdale United
    Chesterfield
    Bromley
    Tonbridge Angels
    Hayes and Yeading
    Oxford City
    Yeovil Town
    Bishop's Stortford/St Albans City
    AFC Fylde/Altrincham

All other League One teams and League Two teams will also enter.

I don't know why I bothered typing that out, we're obviously going to get Wigan or Sunderland.

Though a trip to the mighty Cray Valley Paper Mills FC has got to be the ultimate ground tick.

Defence shouldn't hold up much resistance, especially in the January rain.

Dunno if York are still in it, but it'd be nice to have a kitkat again.....

I watched Hartlepool take Ilkestone apart yesterday on some obscure BBC Channel. It was closer than the score suggests but Hartlepool just edged it.

Scarbs had a couple of seasons going toe to toe with South Shields. For that reason, & in memory of Scarbs, I hope we draw them away & stuff around 8 past them.

As a 9 year old I went to Bridlington Town's first game, reformed from Bridlington Central United and playing in black and amber. The second season they got to the first round of the FA Cup by beating South Shields, a lot higher up the football pyramid then, 5-3 in a packed Queensgate. They weren't to get to the first round of the FA Cup again for over 30 years. As youngsters we fantasised about Town playing at Wembley. I ended up seeing Town at Wembley twice before I saw City there. And it was the old Wembley which made it more special. Funny thing is I can name that team from 1960 but could only name 3 or 4 from the team that got to Wembley in the 1990s. Same with City, I can recall teams from the 1960s and 1970s more readily than far more recent ones.

I remember a few tense exchanges with Darlington in the past, wouldn’t mind playing them again.
I did find it a bit funny when they tried to emulate us by building a huge stadium and then just tanked because they were ****.

If we get an obscure team, will we play the young 'uns or the first team?

Their move to the new ground never really went well - I remember going there when City won 1-0 and the building just didn't look finished with exposed cables in the roof of the concourse and missing panels in the walls - apparently the chairman's throne was very tasteful though.
The old stadium was much better in many ways - especially the pies. My last match there was the "great escape" season for, if memory serves me, a mid week night match and a hard earned1-0 victory. Great stuff.

Has anyone seen anything about how we can watch the game? The IFollow FAQs say FA Cup not included, prelim rounds were televised by clubs own streaming but I can't find anything that says what will happen from 1st round proper onwards?

Until the draw is made, it's unlikely we will find out. The EFL Cup and Carabao cup games were televised, so there's no reason the club wouldn't find a way to stream it.

If we get a really, really low tier side, it might get picked by the BBC for coverage, or be played on local radio from an area that isn't banned by two massive ****wits.

Players stayed with teams longer then. You felt like you were all part of the same thing. It's not the same now.
