Sheff United have won one away game all season. Again Super League giants Man U. This is the only time I will ever say this - talk sport might be worth a listen.
So Chelsea, ManYoo, Liverpool etc have whinged for years and years about fixture congestion and players being burnt out and wanting a winter break yada yada yada. Dangle £3bn in front of them and they'll quite happily play an additional 15 games or whatever tho...**** me!! I hope the PL and UEFA throw the ****ing book at them and ban them from their respective competitions. See how they fair playing 46 games in a domestic season in the EFL....assuming they'd let them in of course! Maybe they can form their own little Domestic Premium League at the same time and sell the rights to ****ing Disney.....or Jim Henson or summit, jesus!!
I don't think they need a leugue on top of this tournament. The proposed format is EXACTLY the same as the full NFL season. It wouldn't surprise me if this was their entire business model.
Then they should be expelled from the league with immediate effect, no relegations this season and 6 come up from the Championship and so on. They should also be made to repay any tv money etc they've received and that should be handed down to lower league clubs to keep them afloat. Everyone's a winner!
I think its all a con basically. What they are proposing is a league which isnt too dissimilar to UEFA's new Champions League format. The new UEFA Champions League proposal is semi enclosed. If, for example, Liverpool finished 8th they would still qualifiy due to their past Champions League success, and West Ham, who finished 4th, would lose out. Basically wiping out the competitive nature of our league competition. That in itself would have been a scandal. I believe that this Super League proposal has basically popped up so that the Champions League changes look less radical and self preserved. Its all set up so that it seems that everybody wins. UEFA stop the Super League, Hurrah for UEFA! Big clubs negotiate a Champions League where they are guaranteed entry every season, basically a Super League in all but name, where they still hold the majority of the cards. And football fans from all clubs throughout the pyramid are lulled into thinking that the disaster of the Super League has been averted when in fact the new Champions League is basically a slightly watered down version of it. Therefore I wouldnt be surprised that UEFA, Premier League etc. and the big clubs are in cahoots. The bottom of it all is that the football hierarchy want to slap the rest of the footballing world. The rest of the football world will not put up with a slap. They refused to be slapped. So the big clubs threaten to punch them hard instead. So ourselves as fans and the rest of the clubs say 'Oh erm......actually, we best settle for a slap instead.' And we all just move on.........
What was the point in KLD buying us then? I mean, I may be getting ahead of myself, but I'm sure a remit of buying any football club at league level, would be to get to the Premier League and push for Champions League qualification? Whether its a 5 year plan or a 25 year plan? I bet he's now thinking 'Why did I bother?' I wonder what the Arabs who are still interested in buying Newcastle think of this?
I find it extremely amusing........Spurs consider themselves an “elite” club an elite club with an empty trophy cabinet, Hull have won more than Spurs have in the last 15 years!!
Even Spurs fans are baffled, some Arsenal fans to a lesser extent too. They both have money, but aren't Elite in any sense of the word. The clubs calling for it are £7bn in debt, collectively. The threat of missing out on big deals - fuelled by the rise of "smaller" clubs, Leicester, Atalanta, Sevilla - is what's behind this. But there's so many questions. What happens to the loan system that they rely so heavily on? What happens to transfers? I'd imagine if an ESL club comes calling you would charge a massive premium and arguably have a "league transfer tax" easily implemented at £10m per player. Imagine the Premier League this season, with no CL qualification and no relegation. How many fans or neutrals would tune in to watch Arsenal v Fulham yesterday? It's a dead rubbber - and because City have romped the league, if there's no other incentive at the top or the bottom, around 80% of all matches, possibly more, would have absolutely no point. It astonishes me that people with more money than many of us could even dream of are so incredibly thick.
If he was buying a club to get in the Champions League I think he could have picked a more sensible option than a team that can't get out of the 3rd div
To be honest, rather pleased we are hiding in the league one bunker at the minute, tin hat on under the table, whilst the bombs pound the surface. We might pop our heads up in a few years time and to assess the damage.
Not too concerned at our plight. Rich owner, particularly at this level, who is football daft and not relying on TV deals to keep the club afloat.
And the aim of a Saudi takeover is basically to join these ****ing twats! Must be bloody messing with your heads this like.
As of this moment I would love to see any club refuse to play their fixtures against the 'big 6'. Particularly clubs like West Ham & Leicester. I mean why should they bother playing them? They could beat the 7-0 but it will make no difference because they would be leap frogged into Europe.
I'm really entering the realms of confusion now. Inexplicably, UEFA have decided NOW is the right time to announce sycophantic changes to the UCL format. Who are these ****ing idiots?
