I need to re-watch the Shining but I loved it when I was kid. Full Metal Jacket has way too much filler after the bootcamp part you are right, the great bits are truly great in that film. The casting of the drill sergeant was inspired.
Agreed, far better. Just watched Black Mass - fantastic (with Johnny Depp not playing a derivative of Capt. Jack for a change).
I'm a big Kurt Russell fan. He's brought us some great characters. So a film I'd recommend as perfect for LBIA is Used Cars. Not his best, but it'll serve you well in your new job. This how it's done...
Lol, LOVE that triple H, love it, sets me up great for my first day, now where did I put my fishing rod
I seem to be a bit late to the thread so rather than list a load of stuff a picture should tell the story
Just a raising of the tone. And a bump up... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/film/what-to-watch/best-british-movies/
When I worked in Virgin Megastore years ago i was stacking VHS and a customer came up to me and asked me what was the best Kurt Russell film in my opinion, I couldn't think of any so said 'Bird on a Wire', still don't know if he's actually in that film or not!
Lot's of good memories from the top 10: The 39 Steps That Hamilton Woman The Third Man But c'mon, man, where's Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit?
Finally got to see Bridge of Spies and Black Mass over this weekend. Bridge of Spies is solid, gleaming stuff from Steven Spielberg. It is a perfect blend of Spielberg and the Coen Brothers, with Tom Hanks thrown in. Ultimately, the film manages to find the wit and humanity in any situation. As one would only hope from the writers, director and actors involved. It is definitely Spielberg's best film since Saving Private Ryan, maybe Schindler's List. 8.5/10 Black Mass, while there's nothing totally new here, works the tropes extremely well. Johnny Depp gives an impressive performance that proves that when he wants to, he can be one of the greatest actors in the business today, it is definitely his career-best performance. 7.5/10
Oh, and in the world of TV, HBO just dropped a teaser for season 6 of Game of Thrones. You teasing bastards HBO. Must we wait until April?
I got Jessica Jones finished, loved it. Marvel's best TV series by far. David Tennant might be Marvel's best villain, film or TV. I've watched a few episodes of The Man in the High Castle, and it is bloody great. Need to get it finished.
I found the man in high castle on youtube so I have watched a couple of them. Its a pretty good show. I need Peaky Blinders 2nd season to get on netflix dvd so I can watch that.
