http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/fixtures Opening with Liverpool at home and then a trip to Leicester, two tricky opening games. We play the Spuds at home on Nov 5 and then away April 29, which could be a crucial game towards the end of the season. Christmas fixture list looks fairly manageable with two home games to WBA and Palace before a Jan 2 trip to Bournemouth Last game of the season is at home to Everton Overall pretty pleased with the fixture list, there aren't any runs of really tough games grouped together. Although Spurs at home followed by Man Utd away will be a big test.
The main sticky patch seems to be Southampton away, Liverpool away, Leicester home, West Brom away and Man C home over March and the start of April. Which is the same time as the CL games isn't it?
Doesn't look completely terrible, although we do have quite a tricky start. That being said, we've messed up when having an 'easy run-in' in the past, so perhaps we could perform better in the fixtures that we deem to be harder when they're bunched together (wishful thinking). Chelsea have a nicely spread out fixture list. Shocker.
That end of March and April period is always chock full of fixtures. Especially with the CL resuming. Not sure how soton will shape up without Koeman this season, but you'd expect Liverpool and man city to be a lot stronger.
I'm not really sure there's such thing as a good or bad fixture list. It's all dependent on the timing of player form and fitness.
I think it's more about the groupings of games together. If we had Utd away, Chelsea at home, then City away over Christmas, then that would be a pretty bad fixture list. Same with the run in. If we had Liverpool away, Utd at home and then finished with a trip to Chelsea, we'd be pretty annoyed with it I reckon.
I thought we were poor in both games against Liverpool last season and they'll be better this time. Be interesting to see how Leicester start the season..
The pansies among our supporters will always hide behind the sofa biting their nails before any of our games, no matter who the opposition is tbh COYG
Let's face it... we could play any game in any order... we know we'll finish anywhere between 2nd-4th with a period of 6-8 weeks where we barely win a single game, most likely coming between January and March. To that end, I really couldn't care less what the fixture list holds!
