Even though my days are very busy here I'm going to see how many times the Champions have won the Champions League. Glorified UEFA Cup. Then if you get knocked out of the qualifying stage you get put in another cup
Latest export from Elfsborg- Jimmy Thelin to Aberdeen to see if he can do any better than Colin. I wonder if we'll play them in another preseason friendly so that the two famous sons could reminisce a bit.
Another nail in the coffin of the FA Cup - no more re-plays from the 1st round proper onwards. I hope this leads to more 'minnow' teams playing purely for penalties. And consequently more bigger teams knocked out rather than getting a second chance to win via a re-play. Next we will have seeding of teams, so once again the big Clubs after a piece of silverware and a European place will be helped through to the latter stages. Seeding will almost certainly mean all Championship & lower league Clubs will be out by the end of the 4th Round - with only a couple even getting that far. And from that point onwards it will just be all the usual elite suspects. No more ties like Liverpool V Man Utd or Arsenal V Spurs in the 3rd round. Outlawed. The last of the old 'magic' sucked out of the competition. Timeframe: Within 5 years. Then the League Cup will be abandoned by the Premier League teams as not being lucrative enough to bother trying to win. It will become another EFL Trophy type minor competition, with Championship teams & lower league sides fighting it out to claim it. Timeframe: within 10 years. And finally I expect the FA Cup will be scrapped altogether. Or relegated to a minor competition (see League Cup speculation above) probably when the Elite teams have all joined a European Super League and have no more use for the FA Cup as a method of getting European football. Timeframe: within 20 years. This latest move by the spineless FA has nothing to do with too much football being played. It is all to do with Elite Clubs making ever more at the expense of the rest of English Football. Those elite Clubs who bleat about having to play too much football are always happy to fly out to the USA or Arabia during the Summer, or even during a winter break - supposedly brought in to help players rest - so they can play money-spinning friendlies that mean absolutely zero to life-long domestic fans. These Clubs are f**King hypocrites.
It’s disgusting that VAR decision stood -the Coventry player was static and the Man U player had the backtracking momentum advantage, fuking disgusting !
If you have a look at the photo which was used to make the VAR decision, it was taken before the ball was actually passed, and the Coventry player was static, whereas the Manu defender was running towards his goal, so the next frame would have shown onside, which would have been the correct decision.
VAR is robbing football of great moments. Had Coventry City knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup 4-3 after being 0-3 down it would surely have been one of the finest comeback wins of all time. Remembered decades from now. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68871206 I'm sad to say I think Mark Robins is wrong. This game will be largely forgotten in a very short time. History remembers things that were done. Not things that were derailed by a wazzock in a control room somewhere.
It won't be forgotten by Coventry fans. Mention Clive Thomas to an Everton fan and see what reaction you get. Mention Tom "Tiny" Wharton to me or any other Kilmarnock supporter and you'll get the story of the 1962 League Cup final (which I attended) between Killie and Hearts, when he mysteriously disallowed a last-minute goal for Kilmarnock which would have taken the game to a replay. No-one saw anything wrong then or since and it still rankles. Coventry fans will never forget.
Northampton's 97th minute equaliser is a big blow to Barnsley, they now play Bolton rather than Peterborough.
I wonder if Wayne Rooney still keeps an eye on Birmingham City games They were fifth (or 6th maybe) in the table when their numpty owners put the Thatched Granny-Grabber in charge. Now they are a point under the relegation line with 1 game left to play Come on Plymouth!!
Eustace was replaced by Rooney, the owners have f***** up on a grand scale. They are at home to Norwich next week, I cannot see Birmingham getting the win to give a chance of staying up, good.
"One nil to the Arsenal..." You don't want Man City to win the League again do you? Over a hundred FFP charges against them but they're above the law.
No I don’t! I would just like some of the smiles wiped off the smug arsenal fans faces - spurs equaliser disallowed by VAR
