read todays sun steve bruce there and the stats sunderland down 04 05 and again there dogger we wont go down some silly daydreamers on here
Notice how we're miles ahead of them now put we're not pulling "the table does not lie" bullshit that they bombarded us with last season. May be me being arrogant but I think it's actually 'smaller' club mentality, they constantly try to prove they're the bigger club. As for us, we simply understand we are undeniably the bigger club (I'm sorry but it's true) so we don't **** ourselves silly every time we get something over our rivals.
There's a reason why almost all of their fans on here have signatures relating to Newcastle. You're spot on.
Good theory but at the end of the day I think we realise that if either Newcastle or Sunderland win a derby by a scorline of 5-1 and don't get beat in the corresponding fixture then it's pretty obvious who the better team is And we're deluded?
I get on with a lot of their lot on here, but for some their definition of success is subject to constantly moving the goalposts. Had we finished above them and they'd won 5 - 1 and dominated the other fixture, they would've had the better season. Had we finished 20 points above them, but they out-performed us against top 4 opposition, they would've had the better season. There's a few that would make quite good spin doctors, as they can turn any positive for us into a negative.
More arrogance here but it has to be said that we have the better history as well. If you go abroad you can easily talk to people about Shearer, Beardo, Keegan, Sir Bobby etc. Sunderland, not so much...
It doesn't count for that much in the grand scheme of things, but it's certainly something to be proud of!
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a massive gripe with the club or the fans (apart from typical rivalry) and I would actually hate to see them go down but like you said, the constant moving of goal posts and smugness about the most minor of things (9-1) gets on my wick. It's worse in recent years considering they're actually an established Prem team now.
Sounds like little man syndrome. I've seen quite a lot of that over the years but never to the extent of what I see and hear from an entire fanbase TBH. I don't know if you were around but when Sunderland got relegated a few years ago there was not one poster on their board on 606 from about Febuary, never even tried to take any banter (not that there were more than about three posts trying). When we were in the **** two years ago we had a full message board and many smug Mackem's! Certainly showed me the mentality of the internet posters from both sides of the Tyne!
If we lose to Liverpool I've got a thread lined up about Pre-Season and how bad it was to make us all feel better
