Can't wait to see Sir Dragonet again. Ground too fast at Epsom and possibly not best suited by the track. Should be too strong here. Prohibitive odds so watch with interest race
Jason Watson is in good form and knocked in a a couple of doubles and trebles recently. Riding 8 today, I can see at least another double.
I see that the whole of the Isle has managed to enter just 5 horses in next Wednedsay’s ‘Great Voltigeur’! Mr O’Brien beats an entire Isle with 6 in the heat at the moment.
Can I just say that I'm not sure why 'Who Dares Wins' now appears under my name whenever I post something! I think that was my suggestion for a forum motto (rather than me personally) after Mr Ponsonby's wonderful triumph oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop at Newcastle. Maybe 'who dares wins' could be replaced by 'almost a national treasure'.
3.30 Newbury Good Vibes set off at a good lick last time but ran out of petrol in the final furlong. Dropped to 5F and from Group 3 to Listed class I think she can defy the 3 lb penalty and make all today. 4/1 looks a decent bet to me. 3.30 Newbury Good Vibes 4/1
afternoon all! newbury,1 50: i think, ottoman court will be hard to beat here, but as an e w alternative,QUICKSTEP LADY could run well.comes from a family her trainer knows very well, and shes related to some top horses,so she might be sharp enough today to run a good race. nottingham,2 00: CLAN ROYALE showed up well on his first two starts, and sets a useful standard here.with any amount of improvement, should be hard to beat today..
Theres 6 horses in the 6.15 at the Curragh, Joseph O'Brien runs 4 of them and his father runs the other 2 lol
You have to wonder sometimes. Good Vibes used her early speed last time over 6F and didn't last home. Dropped to 5F today they decided not to use her early pace and held her up in the rear. Unsurprisingly she was keen at the back and going nowhere with it. She simply never got involved in 7th place. Sometimes I have to wonder is it jockeys or trainers who are responsible for being so thick and illogical. The tactics today seemed to be bordering on stupidity and they didn't even manage to beat the 66/1 shot Glamorous Anna who is rated 16 lbs lower.
At the Curragh there is a huge field for the opener but not many of the youngsters appeal. The two with the form have not set a taxing standard and Joseph O'Brien's Brook On Fifth may make a winning debut. The daughter of Champs Elysees is entered in the Group 1 Fillies Mile later this season and needs to be winning this to justify that lofty target. Drawn near the middle she is taken to pip the ones with experience who are shorter in the betting. 4.40 Curragh Brook On Fifth 11/2
Martin Dwyer looks to have a couple if interesting rides at Newmarket later. 5:50 - Cent Flying 6:20 - Diyara Both currently 6s. Win singles and win double for me
In some ways Master Of Reality looks the obvious one in the 6.15 at the Curragh after being 3rd in the Ascot Gold Cup. Not beaten very far that day a literal reading of the form makes him a tough nut to crack tonight. Southern France and Capri seem to have forgotten how to win and Downdraft is basically a Handicapper who won two weak looking Listed contests that have not panned out since. The trouble with Master Of Reality is that his Gold Cup run is miles in advance of his other form to date. If we were looking at him prior to that run he would be a big price tonight. The Gold Cup is pretty much unique in the 20F trip and Master Of Reality drops back a full 6F from that distance tonight. Is it safe to assume his Gold Cup run as being reliable back to 14F? In the end I couldn't back Master Of Reality and Southern France does not appeal at 2/1. Capri is a shadow of his St Leger winning self and I decided to give lightly raced 3YO Eminent Authority a shout at small stakes given his 10/1 odds. 5th in the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot and unexposed, he could improve and he gets the weight from the older runners. Not a confident selection but I'll give him a go. 6.15 Curragh Eminent Authority 10/1
