A pacifist using violence to prevents more violence may argue that they're holding to their principles. They'd no longer be a pacifist, though.
You can be extremely pro-animal welfare without being a vegetarian. Only eating lab-grown meat would definitely be consistent with that.

I used to know some 'vegetarians' who ate road kill Pheasant. Their rationale was that it was dead anyway, so why not eat it ?

 

You get that now. A lot of people hate vegans because of the extremists and purists. ****ing splitters!

 

There is definitely some vegan one-upmanship going on in that community.
