A much better second half, both before the changes and after. Tyler Smith looked really sharp and got a good goal. Seri is a different class, some really positive signs.
Kept the ball well. Limited them, but it's always difficult to judge friendlies with both sides at 80%. Coyles first time ball for Smith was a bit unlucky, as was the one off the angle (Christie? - watching whilst working) in the first half
It was 500 fans, picked by a lottery, now it’s two planes holding around 370, including 30 players, a dozen or so coaching staff, press, etc, so took it down to less than 300 “fans” we now know that there are many hand picked by the club, you would imagine the sponsors would get places, so what we down to now, half that, 60-75 plus 1. Yes loads of proper City fans in attendance isn’t there? Annoyingly if this had been billed as a mid season training friendly tour, I would have paid to go as would quite a few others.
Never let it be said Rico doesn't know how to flog a dead donkey. Even I'm ready to admit it's been a success, if you like that sort of thing. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
It's 320 fans (300 of which were picked by lottery), plus the players and club staff. You would imagine the sponsors are there, but no-one else would, as they're not.
A few have paid to come out, cost about £360 for the week. I'd say there are 300 city here including partners . I only know 1 who was hand picked and they did not take anyones place.
Just watching the second half, saw the first this lunchtime... we are still messing around at the back and still seem to have no clue what to do at set pieces. As an example, Smith wins a free kick when hauled back on 80 minutes, 3 passes later we are back in our own half without ever threatening the penalty box. We still have a long long long way to go. I thought we created very little even if they are a supposedly ok side.
They finished fourth last season and qualified for the Europa Conference League. They beat Hearts in Edinburgh 4-0, comfortably beat Fiorentina 3-0 at home and consequently finished top of their group. I'd say they were better than OK.
