Yes he may not being up to scratch but we’re not exactly very encouraging are we? Shelvey is proven 3-5 games a season. Even Swansea fans could see it.
I agree. And I don’t think Shelvey is the future/ but I also don’t know if Lewis is either. He needs a loan. To prove himself. We took a gamble. He is at the age where he needs games.
Having watched match of the day I have two points. The red card was a definite red. Quite how the referee seen it as a yellow I don’t know as it was an ankle breaker. And Lewis’s defending for their goal @Darren Peacock's Ponytail was terrible.
Surely it was the exact right time to do some tinkering. We were 4-0 up. It doesn’t matter that we conceded a goal. He got a chance to see how some of the fringe players would perform in a match, without risking the result. It didn’t bite him in the arse - he rested some of his better players, found out more about his squad and took the 3pts with a comfortable win. Win-win-win.
Well when I say it but him on the arse I don’t really mean it. Just it was disappointing conceding. And the goal we conceded was a poor goal. I understand that he wanted to give players game time. But all the hard work the players did that went off to have a clean sheet ultimately came undone because the players that came on to replace them are crap. Have you even seen Lewis’s defending for the goal?
No. But it doesn’t surprise me with a player that is short of game time. Hopefully it will help him next time he plays, which might be in a much higher pressure game, due to injuries. Keeping a clean sheet is neither here nor there. Sure defenders like it but if you think those that went off will be annoyed you don’t know much about footballers. They will be thinking - good. It shows the manager that I should be playing all the time. This bollocks that they spout about I am not bothered about personal stats but how the team does is crap. As top class sportsmen they are highly motivated and selfish. They want to be playing every minute of every game and hate being taken off.
The only stat that really matters is the 3 points I guess. And if we beat Brentford then it’s a great start to the season. I did say yesterdays game was quite a pivotal game.
OK CC, I think we can safely say the old reverse psychology is now a thing of the past. From now on can you please just predict Newcastle wins every game. Thanks.
Shamelessly taken off Lee Ryder. Date #nufc reached 11 points in Premier League last five seasons. 2018/19 - November 26 2019/20 - November 2 2020/21 - November 1 2021/22 - December 27 2022/23 - October 1 Progress.
That wide forward man is what we really need as priority 1. We can suck up the occasional injury in midfield but our front line are far more likely to get injuries and have no cover at the moment.
