If this is true, will that put an end to our search for a centre back? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cardiff-city-hero-danny-gabbidon-7609862
I don't think so. Good backup but not enough on his own to provide what we need forthe full season. I think Connolly is better and could prove a "sleeper".
I think we're OK anyway.....Hudson & Turner easily good enough at this level. Same with Connolly. Cala offers something different. KTC well capable of doing a job if needed...with possiblly Gabbidon as well, we'll be well set.
I thought KTC was terrible last night. Very little threat yet still he seemed all over the place position wise. He is not an answer at CB imo. 33 appearances for a Palace side that stayed up with ease, he's definitely quicker than most of our CB's too. Not sure he'd only make up the numbers if he does sign.
Gabby will be good to have but we need another good centre back as well. KTC doesn't fit that role judging on his performance last night.
I believe we would only sign Gabbidon if we couldn't get any of our preferred targets - he would be back up to the main 4 unless he showed such form in training and other games (Capital Cup/Development Squad) that Ole couldn't ignore him. Keane will only come if Van Gaal signs a top line centre back although with Shaw now out for a month at least he might want to keep Keane anyway as Smalling and Jones can cover at full back.
