It means everything for **** sake. Fergie took over a club that was going absolutely nowhere and hadn't been for nearly three decades. United in another 20 years if we carry on as we are. Solskjaer inherited a behemoth club off the back of one of the allegedly finest managers ever in Mourinho, which had won the league as recently as six years previously, with all the tools there to add to and compete. Which he has added to. On top of that Fergie was far from a fresh round the ears manager, which Solskjaer is. You could see the potential in Ferguson, it wasn't even potential really, it was evident class. There is no evident potential in Ole. None. Which means the two situations just should not be continually compared as being similar because they aren't the same.
Except sacking Jose proves that incorrect. On the one hand you're saying they don't give a fck about anything but the CL. On the other hand you're saying they sacked him because he upset a few players despite finishing in the CL. A few weeks ago you were saying there's no point talking about sacking Ole as it won't happen till the end of the season. Now you're saying ah well it won't happen at all if he finishes in the CL. It's like you want him to stay come what may. I can see it already, next you'll be tellimg us to back Ole ad infinitum because he's not going anywhere because the glazers won't sack him as long as we're in the CL. Completely contradicting what you've said that he should go at the end of the season if he doesn't win silverware.
Complete consistency from the Glazers FFS. As he was likely to miss CL THAT season he got sacked for someone else to retrieve the situation. As for my stance no contradiction either and I’ve not changed my position.
Your statements are contradictory. The Glazers got rid of both Jose and LvG. Remember that both managers actually won trophies in the time that they were with us. Something we have yet to achieve with vast spending. Either way, your posts illustrate clear bias for an underperforming manager because you can’t bring yourself to be objective in your analysis. All objective observers know that Ole is simply not good enough which is factual based on results and how much he has spent. If top 4 is all we are aiming for, then that is extremely shameful.
You are proving my point. The glazers sacked LVG and Mourinho despite their winning trophies. But they didn’t get CL or threatening not to get it in Mourinho’s case the seasons they were sacked. So consistency from the Glazers as they are not bothered about trophies. The Glazers will keep Solskjaer as long as he gets CL. ive not changed my position. We are 7 matches into the league FFS.
Let's be honest Glazers do not give a **** who the manager is or whether we finish in the CL, certainly not enough to hire or fire anyone. It's a complete red herring. It's the board and Woody who decided and the only consistent thing in all this is that they do so with a knee jerk reaction. They gave Ole a permanent contract based on fanboy tactics rather than taking a pragmatic view of things. They should've waited until the end of the season and it doesn't really matter what the media was saying beause they're in charge of arguably the biggest club in the world, not a fcking scouts club. Another red herring. If the performance and results continue the way they have been they can sack him by December as well like they did Jose. And as Chief (I think it was) said, I hope to fck that for once, just once, instead of making a knee-jerk reaction they actually do some homework, feel out some options behind the scenes and have the right manager lined up.
They'll have no hesitation in sacking him if they think that a CL place is being threatened. As long as United is within reach of a CL place they won’t sack him. That’s their MO. But if they do no one can argue that they should do adequate research to get the right manager. The recent appointment of the new director of football helps. BTW that guy has just a few hours ago declared that he and the board had full confidence in solskjaer. Mind you, that declaration is meaningless as we all know results will determine his fate.
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...cking-to-solskjaer-football-director-murtough “Ignore the distractions from social media and the like..”.
Seriously! Wtf does that even mean? Ronald Koeman has full backing as well. As a matter of fact, all managers tend to have this full backing before they are fired. You never see a performing manager need public declaration of backing from the club. It never happens because those in charge don’t need to justify why they keep them in place. The performances tell the real story.
Btw it's all fine and well having a plan. I hope the new football director and scouts are a massive improvement for the club. I think off the field, they probably will be. But a plan is only good up to a point. If the man in charge of what goes on, on the pitch aint up to the task, the plan won't change that. Sorry them's the facts.
We now have one of the best squads we’ve had in over a decade. Yet we should accept top 4 as the priority because there is still one weak link that no one is sure of.
No, because 3 or 4 other teams have really good squads too. Stop being so entitled and start to realise we have competition in the strongest league in the world.
One of the best squads. Agreed. Logically you are stating there are other squads as good and therefore other genuine competitors to the title. Had you said the BEST squad, you could have mocked top 4 (sorry Diego. Just realised you made the same point!)
It's hilarious that the same ppl who were claiming at the beginning of the season that there was nowhere to hide with the squad he had, if Ole didn't win a trophy he should be sacked are now changing the narrative to "oh it's ok we shouldn't expect anything because there are 3 other teams with good squads too " It's no longer about the club and its success, it's all about backing Ole and making excuses for his failures. What a piss poor defeatist attitude. @Bodinki was right. It's like wengerites mark 2 in here.
The excuse would be that there were 19 other teams fighting to win. Christian’s reference to “logical” is right up there too. A squad with multiple World Cup winners, multiple Euro winners, highest wage bill, and a five time player of the year is “just” another squad vying for the “Top 4". Fine logic is fine madness around here.
