Out last night at 3rd gig of 4 planned in 8 days.

Eclectic Orchestra at Hull Minster last Friday (very good. Local conductor and musicians playing music from movies. Entertaining)
Cam Cole supported by The Gulls at Adelphi Tuesday. Really good. Lots of old school blues/rock type stuff. Probably preferred the Gulls tbh.
Brianna Corrigan (ex Beautiful South) at Sun Inn Beverley last night. Playing with a guitarist and a cello player (from Hull) Fantastic sound, and loads of interesting chats between songs. They have regular music nights so it’s well set up for it even though it was sold out last night. Decent beer options too.
Just Weller at Engine Shed in Lincoln on Friday to go.

Just back from watching TWO PIANOS (David Barton and Al Kilvo) at Halifax Playhouse. Great performance. If you have never seen them and you like Rock and Roll then give them a go. Do lots of local gigs (local to Hull / ER - not Halifax)

i have seen them a few times before and knew that Al Kilvo was City supporter from some of his stage banter. Managed to catch up with him after the gig. They had played "Can't help falling in love" as part of their set, I told him last time I sang that was last Saturday at the MKM - he said yes - me too.

Went on to have a good chat about our fathers getting us into being supporters, how mine and his had passed before that first Wembley venture and we both recalled how our Dads were so very much with us on that day and how we really felt their presence. Still chokes me up every time i talk to someone about it.

What a performer. What a man.

    You're missing a treat.
Give em a go, but don't forget your blue suede shoes as you will be up dancing in the aisles.

I've been meaning to see them for ages, just never seem to manage it. I'll make it my job to make it happen this year if possible

Saw him at Engine Shed in Lincoln last night.
Very good. Lots of new stuff played of course, but a couple of Style Council tracks played and finished the encore with That’s Entertainment & Town Called Malice.

    Right…hotel breakfast time

    Great entertainment.
Can’t recall the game but I once saw him play while City were playing an away match so I was signing the score at him throughout <laugh>

Can imagine Steeler's Wheel live was a good laugh, given Gerry Rafferty's friendship with Billy Connolly in Humblebums. Never got to see either live sadly. Nor Phil Lynott's lot - major hole in my bucket list, including Gary Moore.
Surprised about your Rush experience - I thought they were great on stage - despite the high volume !

    You’re absolutely right. <bubbly>

I was thinking it was somewhere small but couldn’t remember where. Very pleasant afternoon (I can’t remember the game either but we won)

    Cheers

11/11/1971 Led Zeppelin at Newcastle City Hall
Jimmy Page walked on to the stage already playing Immigrant Song and the crown rushed to the front
Next day I went to Sunderland and saw them again

The next year I went to Newcastle City Hall to see Led Zeppelin again with a girlfriend
We attended the sound check during the day
My girlfriend was asking if anybody had spare tickets
After the sound check Peter Grant (Led Zeppelin manager) came up to us. He told us that his wife came from Hull. He said if we came to the stage door we would get let in. Behind the stage there's steps or 'terracing' for choirs, etc. and we were told we could sit there and watch the show

My biggest disappointment was Bob Dylan. I loved his mid-1970s tours but when I saw him in England he seemed to get a band together and they would play the same tune for every song.
