Roker Report has Hoffman as MoM..

Generally comments say we did not play that well... but we won!

So we stay in touch with the lead.

    Jog on!

Haven't seen any clips of the saves on Twitter yet. I will post them if they pop up, hopefully they do because they sounded superb

Johnson said linesman and 4th official both told the ref yellow card. Steve Evans and his players obviously have more sway

Refereeing is generally poor but it must be really difficult to control any match that Gillingham play in - at least we got a result after the Pompey fiasco . Onward and upward to Crewe .

    Here is what I saw
    We were awful first half
Ross and Aiden can’t play as a partnership
All I could hear on TV was the Sunderland fans. Respect!
When we played with width we were impressive
    The referee is a plank
Flannagan is proving a lot of us wrong - he has been very good this season
Embletons tackle was daft but was a yellow
The Hoff made some awesome saves - his kick out distribution was sh…te today though.
It was a nervy but satisfying win.

miscellaneous: ref is a nob; fans were awesome; we need wingers; Steve evans is a piece of lard; we won

Delighted we got through that with 3 points. Was never gonna be easy playing those horrible bastards. ****ing sick of these refs.

Get 3 points at Crewe on Tuesday, and it’s looking good, esp. as four of the top 6 play each other.

As I predicted in the match day thread
a narrow hard-fought win. You can't say for sure but we wouldn't have won that in past seasons imo. Crewe next and we'll have played same away games as home. The 100 point season is on track. <cool>

If a keeper has to have a flaw, and let's face it most do especially at this level, I'm happy for it to be crap distribution. Especially these days when the majority of the time they're just rolling it out.

Plus unlike other problems it's something relatively easy to improve on. Haway the Hoff.

I'd play Denver wide left Tuesday, irrespective if Geads is back

Great performance for me. Came back from a poor first half and got the lead. Pushing fir a second when the ref took more notice of the players in front of him than his own staff. Then defended superbly to see it out

on the penalty, think i need another look but thought it was harsh, onien trying to kick the ball clear as their player came in...are defenders now expected not to kick a ball now 'just in case'?

on the red card, not a good tackle but with that ref i expected the red, he kept himself on the ground and his studs well out of the way, harsh again i thought.

on the ref, once again being picky over taking a free kick from the correct blade of grass and that basically told you we would get little from him, confirmed when cirkin got a yellow for the block but their player doing worse to AoB did not get a card...are we unlucky, are the officials determined to stand up to big old sunderland or is the standard just sh1te right through the league?

on the game, our worst half for a while if i am honest, plenty of huff and puff but we wasted a lot in the final third...far better second half and once we got in front we finally started to play only for that red card to change it all.

a good win at the end of the day but as others have said, can we start getting that third goal and finish teams off now instead of these damn nervy finishes please.
