Yep, Arsenal have decided to take the low road and sack their part-time mascot that's been doing the job for 27 years. They need to save some money so that they can pay Ozil's bench bonuses or something. Should be worth at least £2.13 a week.
Someone asked about the term "sick as a parrot. It may have started a long time ago. After returning from an overseas trip in 1908,the captain of the ship the Tottenham Hotspur football team sailed on,gave them the ship's parrot as a momentoe. It was taken to Spurs White Hart Lane offices where it lived for another 11 years. In 1919,the First Division was restructured and a League board meeting decided to elect Arsenal into the top flight, relegating Spurs. This, predictably caused outrage and on that very day the parrot died!Because of what the League had inflicted on them, everyone connected to Spurs were said to be as sick as the parrot......and,possibly the Liverpool chairman received his bank hander!
In answer to the question by Souness, you could do some very simple experiments to build an empirical database to answer that question (and hence allow VAR to make a yes/no decision) .
I read that he gets a bonus for every game he features in as well, so it also probably explains why we're not playing him. The contract we gave him was one of the worst leaving presents from the previous regime. Wenger, Gazidis, Dick Law and whoever else that was involved in pushing that deal through made a colossal mistake, and it's affected us ever since. I don't think anyone ever expected the relationship to get this bad between the club and the player, but even I was very unsure about us giving him this contract at the time it happened. The crazy thing is, Dick Law in an interview last year admitted that the contract offer Ozil eventually signed was the same one we'd offered him a year and a half earlier . https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/we-...-fixer-law-reveals/1ru4cuhccwyef1xr2r8fjkpaan I wish he had signed it a year and a half earlier. Because then he wouldn't be draining our wage bill like he is currently. Ah well. 8 more months to go...
That is a given (after all twas the reason he was signed in 2013 - where would all those Goon FA Cup wins since then be without him ?? ) . Seriously though, surely Kroenke has his bean counters on the case to see when is the "last responsible moment" they could A*****r the Ozil contract and get rid.
I don't think he'd have accepted any sort of move prior to getting his £8m loyalty bonus, but he might now. A loan in January could suit them both. Still think he's off to Turkey in the summer.
