Harris has today joined Cardiff for an undisclosed fee, GW said we couldnt stand in the way of the prospect of playing a higher level of football.
please log in to view this image the death of wwfc is on the way, hayes is getting his own back by selling our star players
gutted to have heard about this, think this move is probably best for him, but not for us. this leaves us with just gaz and grant on the wings, unless we can find someone else...
This is looking ahead. Part of cutting costs. We're looking for players who pay to play. What league would that be in?
Sad to see Harris go and the best of luck to him. His contract was up at the end of this season so can't really blame the club for taking the cash now. Plus hopefully there is a decent sell on clause.
Is he any good though, at best he will be a squad player as we are trying to sign Noone from Brighton and Phillips from Blackpool. Although Malky isnt afraid to give the youngsters a go. Good luck to you for the rest of the season.
I think as much as I don't particularly like Hayes, the one thing he does do pretty well with is selling players and getting a decent deal. At the end of the day if Harris wanted to go and go to a bigger club, what choice do you really have? There aren't many players like Modric who still apply themselves even when they have made it clear they wanted to leave. We don't have the luxury of loads of money or a good league position to make players stay. A good season for us would have been mid table, which is a bit different to say Jordan Rhodes with Huddersfield. Huddersfield are in a good position to go up to the Championship. You would have to be the single greatest salesman to convince a player they would be better off staying with us than going to a team that is fighting for promotion to the premier league!! The one thing I am "happy" with Hayes about is that he does generally get a reasonable deal, the sell on clause money we got from Johnson and Williamson was considerable and we could get some good money because of Phillips. With Ibe we didnt stand a chance of getting much with the ruling coming in next season. I am a little surprised that a club as big as Cardiff have come in for him, as he is good but I don't see him as quite the prospect as Ibe or as Phillips was. I think he has the potential to be a good player but a top Championship or Premier League player I am not sure. He has an awful lot to learn positionally, as he tends to drift in too much searching for the ball and he needs vary the way he beats a player, rather than a kick past and run but there is definitely some potential there.
