This is following from the 'Aches and Pains' Thread.

I don't know if it's an age thing, I'm 35 now but I've made it my New Year's resolution to improve my health and wellbeing.

I've started taking a cold shower once a a day. Which has been life changing. It me, a energy boost and I've notice my mind feels clearer.

    I also started mediation tonight.

Anyone else do anything for improving their health and wellbeing?

I've been doing the cold shower thing for over a year now.. certainly colder in winter...!!! but have been researching turning a freezer into an ice bath on You Tube... Like you I feel so much better for doing it, I also cycle a good bit and even use a spin bike in my shed 3 mornings a week..

Ive cut out sugar ( as much as possible ), making sure I have a much cleaner diet, smaller portions and I'm back working with my PT a min of 3x a week. I feel much better already. I'm also setting myself a target to half my hotel stays this year ( I stayed in hotels just over 90 nights last year ). The same with flights which sat at almost 20 last year and to get myself in a much better sleep pattern. I'm not getting any younger ( 37 ) and the last couple of years ive really started to feel it as well

Work life balance is next on the list, but baby steps haha

I’d say staying off social media helps (he types frantically…on social media)

Last year lost 2.5 stone to lower blood pressure, still continuing intermittent fasting so will probably lose more but that's it.
Gave up smoking 15 years ago so only drinking left.

I also recently took up meditation.

Well, I figured that it beats sitting around doing nothing.

Was reading an online newspaper the other day. There was an article asking what people would like banning. Amazing how many put social media, the internet and MSM. Didn’t realise there were had been so many successful irony bypass operations.

Well done you:emoticon-0148-yes: Two and a half stone is a tremendous effort!!

I'm overweight.I gave up smoking so I'm munching more and I can't exercise myself into shape any more as I'm ****ed with arthritis and I'm in pain walking, never mind jogging.

How did you manage it(P.M me if you don't want to clog up the thread).

My wife had a bit of a scare with her blood pressure and mine wasn't great so we decided to do something about it. She went on 800 calories a day for 6 days with one day off and lost two stone over 8 months. This system worked for her.
I can't be bothered with calorie counting so I fast for 3 days a week. Effectively its the 5/2 diet but with an extra day (4/3). You are meant to consume less than 600 calories on a fast day, but I just have milk in my tea and eat nothing that day. Do what you like the remaining 4 including beer (you'll find you dont go crazy even then). If work or social life gets in the way do at least two days fasting to keep going. I'm OK fasting until I start eating and then feast too much so it works well for me but I appreciate it won't work for every one. It's quite hard in cold weather so start when its warmer and persist. Keeping at it is the key.
    Good luck.

I'm not particularly overweight or anything but I've reached the stage where any pounds I put on go straight to the gut.

Struggle to find time for exercise so thought biking to work is free exercise. 7 miles there, 7 miles back. Really started to feel better for it.

But I think I made a mistake in getting myself a road bike. Number of punctures I've had is ridiculous. Last one was a copper roofing tack, embedded right through the inner tube.

So currently the bike is gathering dust while I'm in an extended strop with the twat.
