I'd say literlyy anyone who was actually bothered to visit as a fan has debunked to the bars and clubs already and they might as well call this for the day/night We are headed to an absolutely green track covering in dust for quali now. I actually expect them to start blocking off track and avoiding these as theres absolutely zero way they can fix concrete breaking. this is not going to be a race in oher words, its going to be a procession of cars for show.
Restarting FP2 at 2am Vegas time. Apparently they have to open one of the roads that is part of the track at 4am to the public. A complete and utter farce Invest the money that you spent on Miami and this turd into Watkins Glen. A track with real motor sport history where real fans will turn up, not these parodies.
That have taken all the metalwork etc out and covered filled them in with Tarnac . FP2 due to start at 10:15
Who will finish first: Other - My interest in the result. I’m glad the championships are wrapped up - this farce is best thought of as a Non-Championship event
Apparently the stewards / fia spent 3 hours trying to find anything that would let Sainz to have to take a penalty . Heard even getting all the teams to agree to a one off dispensation COULD open up a can of worms going forwards .
I bet Enzo is turning in his grave. He might have withdrawn his whole team from Vegas if he had been still alive.
He also hates the sprint races. Never been a big fan of Max in general, but he's definitely the most traditionalist voice in F1 right now. Lord knows Liberty need some pushback every now and then
Sounds like those fans who paid to watch fp1 and fp2 are only receiving a 25% refund when they only actually saw 8 mins of track running! It's a real pity that Carlos is suffering due to damage caused by the track. I am sort of surprised that the FIA haven't put something it the rules to cover this as it's happened before. Wasn't it Danny Ric who straddled the white line on a race start (can't remember the track - maybe Australia) and a manhole cover lifted destroying his car. I also seem to remember another car being damaged by the track and the track paying for the damage - cant remember team or track - might have been Renault? Overall not a great start for trackside fans or Ferrari fans. Hopefully it will get better.
This is now so bad I almost wish the Saudis owned FI rather than the Yanks, everything they touch sports wise turns into a turd fest
Let's be fair here rather than throwing blame at the "Yanks". This stuff happens on street tracks, especially on their first outing, but the stupid time that they're running this at makes it very difficult to deal with such issues and reschedule sessions reasonably. That part isn't the venues fault. F1 wanted this glam event rather than going to an established historic track. Watch some Indy to see the types of motor racing they can put on here. It's wonderful.
There should be some forgiveness for this considering the circumstance. But F1 isn't known for common sense.
