Must agree with you about the timing of the sessions etc. I just don`t know why they didn`t have them at a similar time to the other two American races and ignore Europe.
Also, like you say about the drains,:-- it`s not new,I recall Montoya hitting a drain cover in China in his Williams, when that track was new, also Jenson Button in Monaco and as ched mentioned Danny Ric, in Australia on his first time out for Renault at the start of the race when decided to take to the grass, but there was a storm drain there.

It's part and parcel of street tracks and happens in many forms of motor racing. I imagine the issue is amplified with ground effects too, but the absolute mental time this thing is running at just compounds the issue. I'm sure they could have run this early in the day and easily satisfied the European audience and even had it it at a more convenient time for them, but the sport likes the glam of the night race and completely ignores that none of us give a crap about all bright lights and neon. It adds nothing to racing.

The irony is, some of the long time fans of the sport yearn for the days when tracks were simple, teams were run out of crappy buildings and the racing was raw. F1 has slowly lost its soul and is now just a massive corporate machine. We'll never get that back.

Don't feel you have to applogise for the 'Yanks'. It is clear this is a wider management problem within Liberty. They are trying to modernise F1 to attract a new audience not comprehending how they are destroying the very thing that makes F1 what it is, its history.

Hamilton and Perez fail in Q2. Leclerc will walk to pole on the pace he has over the rest so far.

Not apologizing for anything. Just simply noting a a couple of points to steer us away from going down the xenophobic route of having a crack at the Yanks.

While it easy to throw around some of these tropes, and I agree some of this particular event is too much, we need to be considerate that maybe some of us here have particular close ties and perhaps family that are these yanks.

Pole for Charles by a whisker from his teammate. Sainz should be second on the grid, not 12th due to the bullshit manhole cover ruling.

So the teams that destroy tyres all year get a top 10.

Going to be a versteppen procession after 2 laps and then watching cars go backwards.

Safety cars and Russell hitting verstappen the only hope.

100% not worth getting up for

The best way to describe this non event is with a famous football chant

**** ground no fans, **** ground no fans

Don’t think you’re right on this one. The Ferrari should be able to hold on to its tyres in these conditions, so I think Charles might, if not drive away, then have an excellent chance tomorrow (until Ferrari find a novel way to cock it up). Be interesting to see if Sainz can catch up towards Max as well.

I really don't think so, they will they'll fire up then chew up. Once verstappen gets his 2 or 3 laps in his car will proceed forward relentlessly unless Russell does something stupid and takes both out.

mind you we might be lucky and see le clerc and verstappen out on corner 1 then some racing to catch Russell.

it's going to be a procession of cars forward under drs due to cars that work their tyres hard all getting up at the front at the start then all going backwards

That's the point though, with these conditions, and a low grip circuit, I don't think they will eat their tyres. Race pace in the practice sessions was good too. Of course, Ferrari could come up with a mental strategy and screw things up, but if I were gambling on Vegas, I'd put my money on Leclerc.

it'll be cold, i give you Azerbaijan gp result 2023.

    le clerc 23 seconds behind.

we've have a high speed blast with very little cornering but we still have slippy traction zones and that ferrari will just spin up and chew up the rears.

put high fuel in at the outset and they will just do it quicker.

    ooooh, tyre wear beef.
Going with le tiss on this one, track temp is going to be way down, that's good for tyres, Haas may even look decent for the whole show.

Pleased for Williams but feel Logan might have done this too late to save his seat for next year.
I think we might have an interesting race as there are so many unknowns - mainly tyres. Full tanks and cold tyres will make it unpredictable.

George has just said that the tyres are falling apart after 10 laps and it could be 2 or 3 stops. I wonder who has the most tyres left for the race?

Anyone know a site that lists who has what tyres left for the race?
